Terminator (1984) stereo track reconstruction
#11
Well I re-upped that video, simply because It needed more work.

Anyway a lot more was done to it but at the end of the day I am now Happy with it.... The big question is are any of you happy with it?

This part is basically the main part that needs a lot of work aside from this there is not too much to do. The Music tracks are done. It was pretty Easy stuff really. But this part although I never thought about it has been the main bulk of the Audio work but I think it really needed it. No doubt there will be other bits scattered but nothing on the scale of this part.

Please check out the Vimeo link in my last post (again if you watched it before) scrutinize it and tell me if you like it or don't like it or whatever comes to mind or even if you did not think it was all that different...

I would like some feedback on this one as it was quite time consuming.

Well, I was gonna do this yesterday but didn't think the thread called for it. Now that this has been made into it's own thread, I'll share something with you guys that, while doesn't help the present issue, it's still something you guys might wanna hear just for fun.

There are of course, only about 7 million different cover versions of Terminator songs all over youtube, but since these are the only ones I could find of this specific music, I figured it's special. If anyone wants to hear some decent covers of the "Escape the Police Station" music from T1, I know of a few decent covers as well.

I really like the Terminator 2 teaser trailer music...

Well basically this won't take too long I am using the DVD Mono from the Hemdale and I seriously doubt there would be too much difference in the Laserdisc PCM. I can't see it being any vast improvement over the DVD anyhow.

I think that the best approach will be to see if I can increase the frequency range in a few places and where possible.

You ever checked out the fake stereo mix of The Terminator?
It had some music cues and sounds the where more prominent, or he arable at all, compared to the normal mono.

No I don't have the region 1 DVD so I have never heard it.

Is the music clearer?

say the piece of music where Reese arrives in the lightning and is running from the cops... This is one of those parts that sounds hollow or thin, The bass is practically non existent. So in this case the fix would be to match the music to the film and just include the lower frequencies. That would really improve that part.

I have it not at hands, so I cannot compare.
It never was on DVD. It was on only one or two US LD releases, IIRC.

It was on the first few VHS releases as well.

So, have this LD the best, closest to original, audio track?

https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/01669/ID2...inator-The

according to lddb notes, it seems to be struck from an interpositive print, hence it *could* have a color grading quite similar to the theatrical one...

Someone messaged me a few months ago about ripping the Image Entertainment DVD. Still haven’t gotten to that. Would anyone else here be interested in that???

Right this is the version I am using to do the remix. So unless there is anything specifically sound effects or music missing from the image entertainment mix then perhaps I should look into the other LD mix but it won't change me from using that mix as the main source as I have it synched with the video. But I am not particularly caring if something is a bit louder or a bit quieter that is in the not bothered bin for me.

To remix that scene I need the video synched with the audio. And also just in case there is any further confusion I added in a lot of audio to that scene I posted a clip of. So it's a remix of the Image entertainment DVD. Which also that scene requires a bit more work.
