Terminator (1984) stereo track reconstruction
#21
The only reason I was asking was ‘cause a few months ago I was listening to a ripped file I did of that DVD and a video comparison video i did where the audio was sourced from the LD and I noticed that the ripped DVD file sounded a bit crisper. I might have to do further comparisons since I may have been fooled by compression but it was just something I noticed.

well at the end of the day it still has botched music and that flashback scene is pretty bad compared with the rest of the film so really this is about consistency because for the most part it's really good, so it's more about bringing up to scratch the poorer areas of that mix and making something better or at least not doing a 5.1 totally revisionist remix. I might revise a couple of things or add in. but it will completely carry the spirit of the original. That is the plan.

Ripping the Image DVD was only for those who were interested in using it for anything. It doesn’t have to be for this project.

My tests have been fairly good so far... So it's an improvement on the DVD mix anyway.

Terminator arrival

Gunstore

It will take a bit longer than I thought as these things always do but it will be worth it I feel.

Ok so this is just audio at the moment.

There is is a bit of extra music sound, 2 added in sound effects but really the purpose is to make it feel more full. So be the judge does it feel more wholesome?

You also choose the most wobbly time consuming part!

Not too bad. Pretty clean actually.

I don't think the kick drums are hitting the mark in general though, so I probably need to change it slightly and work on how to process the music so the kick drums burst through.

I'll need to do this for all the chase parts anyway.

It's a WIP but yeah clearer sounding or cleaner as you say.

I just stumbled on a comment and it has to do with the factory chase at the end... There is a Terminator Vision (HUD) shot missing. would be cool to put that right beyond my skill that though. The footage is there just the effects are absent.

There might of been another Hud shot Planned for the Technoir club also....

Shots are in the wrong order also I noticed.

I know exactly which moment you're talking about. It's after Kyle and Sarah reach a dead end, begin to turn around, and The Terminator corners them. You can hear the Terminator's inner HUD noises, but the picture isn't blanket red. I remember even as a kid noticing that error. I chalked it up to just being the sounds of the machinery around them, lol.

Yep that's the one!

So this is fun.... How many more? There is the Warehouse shot as you mentioned at the end.

2 in the technoir club and a footage order swap for continuity. It's probably why they swapped the shots because the vfx were not done...

And when he is at the apartment when he looks at the university Pass?

so I think it's a count of 4 missing Terminator Vision shots but if there are any more you can find.... Let us all know
