UHD BD to BD?
The Hunt for Red October. The remaster has some differences in framing and aspect ratio geometry. The conversion might be a bit too dark and not contrasty enough (opening text too grey when clear white on the old master) on the Default setting. I'll have to tweak that further and see what's what.

I went further and now I think I'll settle with these tweaks on Red October : saturation 1.1, contrast 1.2 and leave the rest untouched.

This title and M:I 1 makes me want 4K so badly. Finally it looks like the old Laserdisc but way, way superior to boot.

I wanted to bring up the Matrix again. Am I correct that the Remastered BD is ONLY available bundled with the 4k disc? I can't seem to find a listing on Amazon for it alone.

Mind you, seeing the comparison screenshots, I'm not sure how I feel about the blown out highlights.

Is anyone working on a hybrid project, sort of a 'best of releases' edit? I know the idea was floated earlier.

I also see they are now pre-ordering Matrix 2 and 3 in 4k/HDR. If they do the same thing to the colors as they did for Matrix 1, then they won't look like their theatrical release at all. If they DON'T do the same thing, the Trilogy bundle will have different colors between the films.

It's a head-scratcher.

The Matrix remastered BD is indeed only included in the UHD pack. They will probably do the same with the sequels.

Sorry for just jumping in, but with all These screenshot loaded big Posts, somehow I miss the thread that simply put down a list of:
- Software needed for conversion
- Plugins to install to the Software

Maybe one or two links to tutorials for starters.

With the growing list of avaible 4K UHD BDs, it is getting more interesting. (In UK StudioCanal is releasing a 4K UHD BD of "Escape from New York" in November.)

Also it would be kind of nice, if it would be possible to minimize the big Pictures a bit, so scanning through the thread using a mobile phone won't always kill bandwith and usability. Smile

And The Fog, and They Live and, supposedly, Prince of Darkness.

Prince Of darkness seem to get no UK Release at the Moment, at least I did not find a preorder link, yet, but a German.
Also, not to Forget, Evil Dead 2 in Germany (Europa) and "The Evil Dead" in USA...

I think I read on Blu-ray.com there was going to be a Zavvi exclusive for Prince of Darkness that'll have a wider release afterwards.

Tonight, I saw the 4K remastered DCP of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and I must say that the RipBot264 conversion I made recently (https://fanrestore.com/thread-2171-post-...l#pid45309) is very close colorwise. I suppose I could reduce a bit the brightness and/or contrast for an even better match, but it's already quite good on the Default setting.
