Batman 1989 4K

Batman is supposed to be with the modren technology at his use, meanwhile the cops, Joker, the gangsters have older sounding weapons. Taking that away is just wrong for the movie.

I agree totally!
It's exactly what i think word for word...

But those who made those changes didn't care about that, and just wanted a bigger and louder soundtrack, but in my opinion it doesn't fit the movie at all....

That's why it's so important to preserve the different versions of the original mix, so we can choose the track we want...

I think comments from Danny Elfman is what caused the new mix, he didn't like how the original mix was done. But it underminds what the sound crew for the movie had done.

My entirely uninformed guess is they made a new mix simply because they wanted to slap "Atmos" on it as a selling argument.

I take the new mix like how most people do with Superman The Movie, I perfer the old mix but enjoy watching the movie with the Atmos track.

I heard and read that the original sound mix was a rushed job back then that they never were satisfied with. They had to use stock sound effects already used in Dirty Harry (gunshots) and Aliens (the Batmobile shields) for example.

I agree, I don't really mind the act of remixing itself, I think it's a cool creative process. For example the Jethro Tull remixes released over the past years have been fantastic. What bothers me is that they don't bother to include the old mixes and, if it wasn't for communities like ours, they would be forgotten or the changes never actively noticed.

To go back to the Jethro Tull example, they actually include raw lossless 96 kHz 24 bit high quality captures of the original master mix on the remixed albums, usually on a separate disc. Now that's dedication, giving you the fresh mix, but also letting you hear the old one in unprecedented quality.

Yeah, Danny Elfman said he didn't like the mix of the movie, but the rush job adds to the 1940's look despite it taking place in modern times. Don't forget about explosions sounds from James Bond, Superman, and Thunderbrids. (Which is the only sound effects I don't like from the original mix.)

Yeah, I like remixes as long as remains true to the spirit of the original mix, and said mix is included.

Of coruse, that the point of the rage towards WB. They have forgeten to add the original mix of the movie to 4K Remastered disc and the UHD.

The cause for the new mix is obviously the atmos track, but they have done atmos track before for other movies without replacing the originals fx....

it doesn't matter what  the circumstances of the mix were at the time..
you can't just change the soundtrack 30 years later, and hoping the original will be forget
No matter what, it's what the film has always sound.
and like weegee2392 said, it fit perfectly the 40's look of the film..

If Burton really wanted to change it,he had plenty of time since the releases to do so.
And speaking of, Burton has nothing to do with the new mix...
it's not the will of the director to have it sound like that...

agreed, but they coud have remix the soundtrack without replacing the effects...
and keep the orginal mix available, like they did for Superman...

i'd like to had that this new mix is badly done..
The new effects are way too loud, and the worst thing is that you still hear the old fx (like the gunshots) in the background.. Sick
