Rambo trilogy original mixes & color timing
#1
Hi everyone,

I'm working on the idea of a preserv of the original first 3 Rambo in their original mixes and color timing.

However I miss this DVD of first Blood II http://www.amazon.com/Rambo-First-Blood-...0784011214

Anyone has it?

Would fancy an upload, that would complete my project Smile

Let us know something more about the difference in sound mixes and color grading between DVD and BD, please!

The BD have all the whites blown out for Rambo, the color timing is totally off for Rambo II, and III is missing all the burn-int subs, replaced by DVD generated subs + the color is sightly off. Basically the BR look like they went to the negatives and didn't apply whatever modifications which were made in the IP stage.

Original mixes are only on the original LD/DVD releases, they are dolby surround mixes.

My idea is to make those as mkv, h264 reencodes of the OOP DVDs, with additional subs and foreign languages added.

Great project! But, if I'd use the BDs as sources, and try to correct them...

I've wondered about this for the first film. I've never seen the sequels but they seem to lose all the intellectual and moral qualities in FIRST BLOOD. Is the BD that bad?

Sound like a great project Stamper.

Do you have pics showing the differences with the first one? I'm excited to see that get fixed up.

Also missing burnt in subs is always a pet-peeve of mine.

Here's some comparison on First Blood from DVDbeaver. You can see the Blu-ray is either darker, or lighter. In the shot that pans when Rambo arrives at the house, the skies are blown out on the Blu-ray. They are clear blue on the DVD.

Thanks for the example, Stamper that's a noticeable difference.

Don't forget that there is more than one blu ray transfer of the trilogy out there:
