Wouldn't it need to be NTSC/23.976?

Yeah, but I never bought the US disc! Maybe someone else from the US have it.

I know how to change speed but not pitch so a 23.976 source would be best if possible.

The 90 and 96 VHS as well as the 12588 LD are all the same identical "reprocessed for stereo" mix. This rare ac3 LD supposedly has an analog mono track, which could just be the 2.0 mixed down since they had an extra channel available, but I've been hoping to snag it at some point to give it a listen. There's also a JPN disc with an analog mono track.

Given that the AC3 edition came out in 1999 I would be wary.
Were downmixes a thing back in he 90s? I would assume the Japanese LD from 1983 is proper mono. Had no idea mono was so difficult to get hold of for this title. I keep hoping Warner will announce a UHD with it restored.

Yeah, Josey Wales is a bit of an exception and I don't have any original LD or VHS track.
However I think the remix is not bad, when compared to the foreign dubs. It's probably the unique case where the 90's remix trumps all of the other mixes.

http://sndup.net/cpmd anyhow my vhs copy is pretty worn so might have to run i thru izotope. Not familiar with the program though. main reason why i much prefer working with digital audio.

picked up a copy of the 86 'reprocessed for stereo' Dirty Harry VHS. sounds great next to the blu-ray and has the original sound effects, but i dont have any other tracks for reference. anyone have any vhs/LD rips? there wasn't a digital LD in the us until 92 so not sure they will be the same or not. i saw in the older dirty harry thread that the only options for mono is maybe a JPN LD or betamax...but CED is potentially the best option and should be true mono with decent sound quality. i still don't have a player though.
