Jurassic Park - Mixes & Myths
#51
I'm simply using the waveforms to see to what extent the levels have been altered compared to the theatrical mixes. I do listen to the mixes but I don't have expert ears (or even particularly good ordinary ears!) so that doesn't tell me much more than the waveforms do.

If Audition isn't presenting this information accurately then that's news to me. I would certainly welcome any guidance as to how to get "accurate" waveforms.

I hope I haven't misrepresented the scope of what I'm doing here. This was just something I started doing for my own personal interest when researching different mixes as so much information online conflicts. I share it for what it's worth in case others are also interested. But I'm certainly not intending this to be the final word in whether one mix sounds better than another.

Just to clarify. If I'm playing back Jurassic Park 2.0 and want to hear the Cinema DTS track at its best,

1. lower the surround channels by -3db
2. Increase the LFE by +3db

Is this correct?

Thanks

Thanks Turisu for those in-depth comparisons, very interesting!

When I tried to sync the DTS cinema track (from the 35mm print) to the UHD, I couldn't get it to stay in sync all the way through.
Next I thought the 3D Blu-ray's audio would sync up perfectly with just a (negative) delay but it too fell out of sync by the end.
Is there something I'm missing?

the 3D audio should sync up just fine with a delay

Thanks for confirming. Could be that the track I obtained was from another release.
I was finally able to sync the 3D Blu-ray's DTS audio with a delay of: -2400 ms
