[In progress] TERMINATOR 2 Blu-ray regrade to 35mm

I hadn't realized there was a 2160p scan out there. I've got a 1080p one. Am assuming they are from different prints?

Yes, and it’s missing a bit in the car when Sarah lectures John about his importance which makes him cry. It also looks washed out and overly bright with the HDR-ish rendering they made it with, but it remains usefull to me as it's closer in some aspects to my 35mm experience regarding the cyan and purple cohabitating in night blue scenes, and it also has more yellow fire and steel factory, also more in line with my 35mm experience. The other scans don’t capture these same characteristics in these moments.

Oh right thanks. Your work on it looks really great. Shame the 2160 scan has missing footage. I have a few home cinema copies of it including the NTSC LaserDisc boxset, the Skynet Edition and 4K remaster blu ray, but the latter has that horrible DNR! I recently found the 1080 35mm scan which I prefer to the blu rays. It feels a lot closer to how I remember it in the cinema, especially with all the pops and crackles and reel markers. It has that cold metallic blue look which seems to have been somewhat lessened in home cinema releases over the years. I saw it fair few times in '91. The last time I saw a film print of it in the cinema was a 70mm double bill with Total Recall in the Odeon Marble Arch about 1993. That's over 30 years ago so it could well be that my memory of how it looked is a bit faded lol.

Yeah, I couldn’t tell you how what I saw 30 years ago looked like either. Plus I wasn’t paying much attention to color timing back then. That terminology wasn’t even a thing for me. I didn’t even see T2 in theater in 1991. I saw a 35mm print still in fair condition around 2014-2015, when I was already a member of the original trilogy forum, so at that point I was very aware of these things and made a point to carefully observe the prints I was lucky enough to experience in theaters in Paris, France.

As it has blurred corners I'm pretty sure it's the random.next one. Found on the Russian tracker.

Despite it being 10-ish years ago that's still really good you were able to see a 35mm print in this day and age. Glad some places are still showing them. I think only places like The Prince Charles Cinema in London still show 35mm prints in the UK now.

15 minutes and 29 seconds marker today. All this darkness, this night blue - purplish in the dark parts, cyan in the light parts - this yellow fire... Isn't it a thing of beauty? You don't even have to digitally erase Robert Patrick's thing when you grade it dark enough to convey the mood of the scene:
