I think David Yates is generally to blame. The last few Harry Potter films could have been shot up a cow's but in a closet at night. It was just garbage cinematography.

You could say it's because digital cameras don't require color timing and you can adjust the image to look like anything, but that's what led to the orange-teal fad.

I'll be cropping that movie to 2.35:1 (to match with MoS/BvS) as I don't really like 1.78:1, not sure about resaturing though (maybe just a little boost of colours), but your version looks really nice and kinda inspirational.

(Also, I'd cut few pointless things - Martian Manhunter, Knightmare, Deathstroke scene and maybe, just maybe, if the 5.1 audio track allow it... a little bit of re-scoring...)

I've been doing a bit more work on this, and have arrived at a point where I'm quite happy with the results. I've also found ways to tonemap HDR, so the screenshots should be more representative.

For the Wonder Woman shot pushing the guy's shoulder away from the bullet, you might as well take the one from the 2017 version in 1.78:1 and colormatch it, 'cause the framing shows more in widescreen. There are probalby more than just this one shot, but that's the one I'm aware of.

wow, can't you just adjust the colors on your TV and crop it if you want to watch it like Marvel movie?

Hows the project going? I think it looks great, great idea on the 4:3->16:9 change. Will it be 4k HDR? I can supply a 4k source (and preserved audio) if you'd like to apply your settings to it for a 4k release. Let me know 🤛
