Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Regrade
#11
Yeah, as I say, I use After Effects CS6 to apply LUTs. Is there a difference?

No, it's just all about what software you feel comfortable with.

Update! I now have some screenshots from the print, and so some more test regrades for your perusal.

1 2 3 4

Again, there is some slight artifacting. I don't know if some noise removal on the original image will help. But these shots also suggest that the Blu-ray is indeed closely resembling the original colour palette, but muted to an extent. That's the best possible theory I have.

Right... this artifacting problem I have is kind of getting out of hand.

I'm guessing the problem would be resolved by doing a pulldown or something. I don't know how to do that. Can I get help on this?

First of all FrankT, I like the look of this project. I said it before, I don't know if the those are the right colors but they look right (or at least of the time)

Second, I don't see the answer but I assume you are regarding the BD? If so the BD 1080p/24 so there should be no pulldown errors in there. I assume those errors don't exist before the color grading? It could be a bad conversion, bad color space issues, etc

Maybe give us your workflow and maybe we can work through it. I'm no expert but I might be able to help.

Workflow... how do I do that?

Sorry, what process you used.

Like for Alien (simplified), I ripped the BD to a hard drive. Converted the H.264 to AVI (Lag). Loaded it into Adobe Premiere. Cut the movie into all its component shots. Colored them in Speedgrade or Resolve. Outputted into AVI (Lag). Converted to 264 with x.264.

So where in your process is that error occurring?

Using DrDre's tool, I think. Sometimes it lets these artifacts through. Maybe I'm using it wrong?

I'm guessing but in using Dre's requires a certain level of alignment of the two sources. When I used it the better the alignment of the two sources the less artifacting. Can you try to align in Photoshop if you have it?

It may be that I didn't take the wind discolouration into account.
