Nope, you still have to convert the audio and the only way is by using audacity or similar software then remux to the stream previously fixed at 23.976

ReClock can do it on the fly, but you'll have to experiment with it for a bit to get it to work. (There were a few other methods, but none of them were thought to be as good.) The HTPC crowd used to do this quite frequently years ago. But I could never be bothered.

Thank you.
Worth a try... It's nice to have options! 8)

ok,quick question before my first try at this..
i'd like to rip a soundtrack from a dvd and synch it later with the bluray, but like almost all my dvds it is pal. so, converting the audio to get rid of the pal speed up, will it downgrade or alter the soundtrack in anyway? would it be the exact same quality as if i ripped it from a r1 dvd?
Pas vraiment, not near exact, but close enough.
What you gotta do is check the audio track original bitrate and format. Let's say it's AC3 192kbps. So you open it in audacity, fix the pitch and speed (make sure you have for reference an actual 23.976 rip in the same or in another language to be sure you are not altering the pitch), then you can reencode it to DD 640kbps which is what I do. Sure the track would have been manipulated, but it's close enough. On a side note, most LD pal french audio found on blogspot sites, are either at the wrong pitch, (but correct speed), or totally clipped. Those guys have not idea what they are doing, but they are sharing repacks with altered pitches and clipped audio everywhere. It's a bit sad. Especially as many french fans get them and think they are having the right track, when it's totally botched and worse than a Blu-ray remastered track. So when the correct track come along, no one cares because they think they are fine already with their clipped track in the wrong pitch Thanks given by: Chris Knight

ok, thank you!
it helps very much! i will give it a try... as for a reference, it will be easy (Batman bluray will do perfectly). Even if i don't think i'll hear any alterations,me being kind of a perfectionist, if the track worth it, i'am sure i'll end up getting a r1 dvd, just to ease my mind... But i'll try it first, cause at least it will be a good practice, and being completely new at all this, i really need it! And your side note is very interesting too. I think i know what sites you mean. It's too bad cause the intention might be good, but they ruin everything they're doing... so sad specially for those believeing having the best track there is.. as far as I'm concerned, i only watch movies in their original languages, whatever it is... can't stand dubbed movies, so there is no risk i end up with one of those tracks... But all that confort me in the idea that i have to take my time, and learn everything i can,and practice,to know what i'm doing, and make things the right way... thanks again!
What track are you interested in? Batman Returns? Because if a R1 exists it is better to use it as it is unalterated compared to the Pal speed up version.
I only convert Pal stuff back to 23.976 Blu-ray speed when the track is unavailable elsewhere than on a R2 disc. If you don't own any particular R1 disc, you can find it on price minister usually for 1 buck. Apart from box sets, DVD have near zero value today so people are getting rid of their collection for one buck apiece. The shipping cost you more LOL.

It's for Batman (1989) (but Returns is also on my to do list).
I have the 1997 R1 dvd ordered, and should be here soon... So for this one no problem.. but i'd like to add the dts track from the 2005 Special editon dvd too, to have all the different tracks available from the original mix, i can get.. and that one i already have, but it's pal. So, i'll follow your advice, and i'll try to get my hand on the R1...(doesn't cost much, you're right ) but in the meantime, i think i will play around with my pal dvd, just to practice...cant'hurt |
