I'm aware of the lovely Shout Blu using a 2k scan of an IP, and the German Blu using a 35mm German release print that looks quite decent all things considered. However, I have read of this Blu being released in the UK https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/House-on-...ay/124188/.

Many people have said this UK release is terrible, but they don't really elaborate much as to why. I've heard one report saying it uses the German 35mm transfer with a worse encode (and DD 5.1 audio). Some say it uses a completely different transfer to the German one, a European HD master or some upconverted source that opens up with a J&M Entertainment logo (the Shout has Warner Bros and the German one opens up with Buena Vista International and Helkon all before the Dark Castle logo). It's also said to have dupe frames or field blending from being encoded without any speed adjustments in 1080p 24, which if it were indeed 1080i25 or 50i originally could explain the problem.

Anyone have this Blu? I'd like to hear and possibly see screen grabs on how the transfer and such is.

I recently stumbled upon a blogpost regarding Stanley Kubrick's films on home media. It makes a pretty good argument towards the films which have had different aspect ratios applied, especially by Warner Home Video.
This came out when I read a post on reddit stating Full Metal Jacket was being streamed in 4:3 on HBO Max.

Some people say that since Kubrick apparently supervised the DVD releases of The Shining, Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut, they're supposed to be regarded as the ultimate vision of the director, whilst others claim otherwise, saying he might have been out of touch with home technology.

My question to you simply relates to your thoughts on what constitutes the best AR for each of his films, potentially which cut you prefer for The Shining, and what projects Fanresers have completed to realise Kubrick's vision.

I'm working on a project - not related to movies - and I wanted to create a nice image using only UTF-8 characters.

After quite a lot of pick and discard, I ended up with this:

then I showed it to someone that said "oh, yes, it's a ...!"

And then I realized that yes, it could resamble a ... - still, I was trying to obtain something completely different!

The question is: what does that little image represent in your opinion? Fill in the blanks!

I've previously used Davinci Resolve a great deal for camcorder projects so I decided to try it for fan editing of blu-ray rips. To keep things relatively simple, I thought using 5.1 audio would be a good idea. But when I dropped a file with a 5.1 soundtrack into the timeline, the channels were all in the wrong place on playback.

I have tried splitting the audio into separate tracks for each channel and then importing, I tried panning those channels around into the correct positions, I've rendered in all kinds of formats, but I haven't found any way to get the correct 5.1 audio to render out.

Simply outputting the same audio that is dropped in doesn't seem a lot to ask but for some reason it just won't work. Is Resolve not suitable for this kind of project?  

After finding some issues with a random assortment of my captures, I'm going through and recapturing EVERYTHING I own. I've got about 150 left to go.

Everything is bit-perfect PCM or 96 khz analog capture.

I'm from Germany and I'm a big film fan and I'm always looking for the best versions of films and series.

I am looking for a hybrid version of Need for Speed 2014 Open Matte Hybrid 1080p that combines BluRay and WEBRip. To increase the bit rate and get a sharper picture and cover Russian overlays with the BluRay. The Russian WEBRip unfortunately has a very low bit rate, the intro and the overlays are also in Russian. I've been thinking about a version like this: "Martian.2015.Theatrical.Cut.Open.Matte.1080p-BLUEBIRD"

I hope there is someone who has the technical expertise and has upgraded this film.

I personally think the film is a little undervalued.

I'm still new here, please forgive me for my mistakes. But I learn quickly.
