Hi,
I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Pim and i have a big passion for movies and home theatre. Good picture quality and sound quality is a never-ending chase. Especially for audio, there is always a comprise to make (gf, neighbours, looks).
My current setup is a LG G4 (filmmaker mode) and a Sony Bravia Quad with the new Sony Theatre Sub 9. It is a nice setup and a good compromise to watch UHD blu-ray movies at home.
The reason i joined this forum is because some movies are not shipped with the best possible audio, many modern Atmos tracks are lacking in the low-end when compared to their older dvd or blu-ray editions. It is really cool and interesting to see how the community is hunting/creating the best version of movies.

Hey guys.
Long time no see. Lots of unread private messages... I should login more often!
So.
Here's a nice fancut I finally did thanks to the recent surfacing of a 4K scan of the legendary "helicopter in the twin towers" trailer.
Not much to say, I just edited the footage of the trailer into the film. Regraded it to make it look as close... or perhaps the least dissimilar from the rest of the film.
I know this was never meant to be part of the film, but hey, the 3 Raimi films are pretty much the only superhero movies I can tolerate. It was tempting to do this.
The real challenge here was the audio. Thankfully, the guy included a nice 2.0 lossless pcm format track.
I followed a couple of youtube tutorials to create a 5.1 mix out of the original 2.0 using Steve Thompson's V.I plugins + audacity (32 bit only!). I did my best to match the loudness of this 5.1 audio to the rest of the film. It wasn't easy, but considering my limited skills doing this kind of stuff, I'm more than happy.
Hope you like it.
The film itself is not regraded or anything. I've seen the 35mm open matte scan that's been floating around, and I think the bluray colors are just fine.

Brand new to this forum, discovered it falling down the rabbit hole of finding out audio tracks on newer editions of many beloved films have been remixed or neutered, hoping to learn more about original theatrical mixes on dvds and laserdiscs

1994 LD [21000] PCM 2.0 decoded into 5.0 using a Shure HTS5300. Synced to the UHD and saved as FLAC. Another great mix from the 90s.
PM me for link.
If anyone out there has the rare AC3 release from Taiwan, please let me know. Thanks

1992 LD [LV 1376-WS] PCM 2.0 decoded into 5.0 using a Shure HTS5300. Synced to the UHD and saved as FLAC. Really impressive mix.
I also have the 2003 DVD AC3 5.1 synced to the UHD, saved as FLAC, however, due to the surround channels needing to be lowered by 3db, and there being no way to do that without reencoding or saving as FLAC/PCM, so far I know.
PM me for link.
