  Hello Fan Restoration World!
Posted by: real_stg83 - 2024-11-29, 07:14 AM - Forum: Presentation - No Replies

Hello all, I came across this amazing community looking for fan restoration projects. I am against all types of censorship and changes to the original movies even if they are dine by the film makers themselves. So I really appreciate the incredible work done by fans to preserve these films.

Hello There,

You can call me as Mr. Pixel or PP (PixelPlate in short). I'm new to FanEdit community and would like to try editing movies based on my own taste.
I'm from India and I mainly wanna focus on Re-Editing Indian Movies since their runtimes are usually bloated (on avg, 3 hours) padded with unnecessary stuffs.

Would love to see all of your FanEdits that may serve as an inspiration for mine.

Thank you and I'm really glad to join here Smile

Hey everyone, became a big fan of the 4k star wars OT restorations and just recently found this forum.

Can't wait to dig deeper into the world of fan restorations and maybe find a way to help? Cheers!

Fell into the Fan Restoration rabbit hole with the Star Wars OT and Eyes Wide Shut and I'm only falling further each week, excited to see the work here! (And maybe work on some projects myself at some point…)

Hi

I think fanedits for some time are doing better work than most studios and bringing the best version ls of the films. I am totally into them and now I understand how much work goes into it and therefore results as seen here.

[Idea] Preserving VHS, LD, and DVD bonus features not on BD or UHD.
Posted by: AdmiralNoodles - 2024-11-19, 12:56 AM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - No Replies

I do have several DVDs I've kept or repurchased over the years since Blu-ray disc debut in 2006 due to mainly those releases having bonus features, even trailers, which weren't carried over. A very easy example is RoboCop. The Criterion Collection LD/DVD and MGM 2-Disc DVD still have exclusive bonus features not carried over to the Blu-ray discs or UHD releases. The ARROW BD & 4K UHD releases are absoutely stellar, and of course due to licensing or whichever don't carry over every bonus feature from prior disc/optical formats.
There's an extensive listing on the blu-ray.com forum for many but is only for Blu-ray disc, even though 4K UHD have many of the bonus features carried over. Many are even audio commentaries which have last been on LD or DVD and have never been featured on the two most current disc formats.
It's quite easy to use MakeMKV for the video bonus features, even trailers, on the DVDs but I'm unsure of what program to use for audio tracks. There's a plethora of LD audio commentaries, some from DVDs, which have been preserved as AC3, some MP3 which should be redone as AC3, that I could upload or make available. Those audio commentaries are ones I've downloaded ages ago which should be readily available.
Any recommendations or other ideas? This might be easiest for DVDs which are OOP or difficult to find. Of course, the interest regarding specific films is a factor.
