Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004)
Posted by: spoRv - 2015-06-02, 01:55 PM - Forum: Movies, TV shows and other - Replies (2)

As a fourth installment in a cheap (in comparison to other sagas) franchise, you can think Tremors 4 is a complete loss of time, uh?

Is it a masterpiece? Forget about it!
Is it a crappy piece of crap? Absolutely not!

It's a honest monster-based comedy set in the Far West, with good actors, and a nice story... faulty CGI effects, I must admit, but I've seen a lot worst...

[request]Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers Laserdisc audio
Posted by: CatBus - 2015-06-01, 10:50 PM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (6)

Someone mentioned in another forum that the original version of The Wrong Trousers has entirely different music, and that this needed to be altered for home video release (i.e. "Happy Birthday" replaced with "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow", penguin's radio music changed, and I think some background TV audio is changed as well). If someone had a Laserdisc version of this and ripped the audio, it should be easy to sync the LD audio to the Blu-ray and re-create the originally-aired episode in high quality.

Hey, it's my favorite episode. I'd do it if I could get the raw materials. Not as interested in VHS audio, other than to better know what the differences were.

  Is this thing on?
Posted by: CatBus - 2015-06-01, 10:28 PM - Forum: Presentation - Replies (16)

Hey, so uh, CatBus here. For people not familiar with me from OT.com and Project Threepio, I do mostly Star Wars subtitle related stuff, and try to keep it pretty limited to that, because my projects tend to sprawl way out of control. But I'm certainly happy to help with other projects, with info I've learned along the way. Subtitles are an often-overlooked topic, and technical expertise in the area is hard to come by.

  Nostalgy vs Crystal Clear Quality
Posted by: Revolverheld - 2015-06-01, 08:53 PM - Forum: Official and unofficial releases - Replies (10)

So what do you think when an good old movie is released on Blu Ray. Do you prefer it 'dirty and dusty' or crystal clear (looking like a new movie)?

I think both have their advantages, but sometimes the older version seems to have a special charisma. It's like a good, aged wine.

Feel free to share your ideas (pro/contra) and give some examples that come into your mind. Big Grin

Thumbs Up It Follows

Anyone see this yet?

I just watched it this weekend and loved it. It was very old school with a slow build up of horror. And in keeping with that old school flavor there were no shaky camera, no radical cuts just beautiful well balance shots in 2.39. Kind of like Fury Road, it used classic filming techniques to create a refreshing new film. In that way even though the premise is different, both my brother and I got a Halloween vibe from it.

Also of note the soundtrack was great too. A little over the top but also refreshingly a throw back. Sort of reminded me also of Carpenter and the best Italian composers from the 60s and 70s. You can stream it here:

  Hello to all Members.

I heard about this page at originaltrilogy.com and just signed in here.

Nice too see there are so many people around who hold the artistic value of Movies in high esteem. Personally, I am a fan of the so called 'Spaghetti Westerns' and many other classics from the 60/70s. But their release on DVD/Blu Ray were not always satisfying. Sometimes they ruin the colours, then again they change the sound effects. Its even more surprising if that happens by the own director (George Lucas-Star Wars).. completely changing the orginal feeling of the movie from the cinema. Yes a movie must feel right and adding some effects 20 years later can't be good.

Well long story short, thats why i joined this forum, with the intention to support those good projects to bring the original Art back.

See you again.. with best Wishes,

Revolverheld

  [help]Possible Star Wars trailer audio
Posted by: spoRv - 2015-06-01, 06:00 PM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (25)

Found this audio track: https://www.sendspace.com/file/4ctcmy

Basically, Darth Vaders breaths, then something that seems to be knocking on a door, then lightsaber noises... maybe it's not even remotely related to Star Wars - officialy, I mean...

Has anyone a clue?

Hey, crampedmisfit1990 here. DoomBot (hell of a guy) recommended I join and so I did. Great site. Love the restorations and corrections to movies that everyone is doing. I work some on restoration, but I am still learning a thing or two. Hope to stay quite a while...
