Hi members. Name's Steve, from Brooklyn, NY. Been into movies my entire life. Been a fan of fan editing since 2007. And I've always appreciated film preservation. I'm also a member of fanedit.org and originaltrilogy.com as well. Can't wait for the all the great convos to have on this site.

I've just got here and I'm already moving the furniture around ;-)
How about an audio-specific section? Lots of us are into resyncing soundtracks (usually laser-sourced, but not always) so it would be good to keep track of the various audio-only projects in their own threads. It may even help me remember what I'm working on myself...

Finally an high quality sci-fi series!!! It was time, indeed! Acting is good, actors are well chosen, effects are not perfect but a lot better than some other series (SyFy for example)... and the fact that J.J. Abrams produced it, could be defined a "seal of quality"! I like almost all of these, but... we are in the 2048; we have human clones, android with emotions, improved humans, holographic "things" everywhere... and we still have 30+ years old Fiat 500, Smart ForTwo, Can-Am Spider and even a Segway(!) ?!?
Apart the latest little annoying fact, every other aspect of the series is good, so take some time to watch it; really reccomended to any sci-fi lover!

_,,,^..^,,,_ presents: Disney's Beauty and the Beast [spoRv]
| PROJECTS: Released | In progress | Future | Mission & Setup |
Mission: to restore Disney's Beauty and the Beast, to recover its original color grading, and to add the laserdisc original soundtrack.
Video sources: analog video captured directly from Laserdisc, using one of the best laserdisc player ever produced, the Pioneer HLD-X9
Audio sources: uncompressed PCM captured directly from Laserdiscs; other soundtracks from BDs and DVDs.
Subtitles sources: subtitles for all languages.
Project info:
"Beauty and the Beast" was released in Blu-ray but, altough its quality is good, is different from the laserdisc; the color grading is not what it should be, and has massive contrast problems; the laserdisc soundtrack is closer to the original Dolby Surround soundtrack than the BD.

As many of you know, I've researched these films for an eternity. I'm still in the process of obtaining the best information on the 20 original films in terms of both picture and sound, in order to finally have accuracy in video. Currently I think the best way to achieve this would be to:
1. Purist edition: Using primarily the SE DVDs combined with Laserdisc PCM original audio, and some LD for cropped transfers, missing frames etc. for a truer representation of how the films looked. Possibly upscaled to 720p akin to the new GOUT from Darkjedi/U2. Since the SE DVDs are essentially like the GOUT in terms of representation this seems pretty straightforward.
2. Eventually do a complete regrading of the BDs, once more print sources become available for comparison. Also, some BDs seem to not use the Lowry transfers so more research is needed.
Lastly, 4K DCPs are starting to make theatrical appearances and these may have been further tweaked.

Hi
Ive tried to post a download link on a thread http://fanres.com/showthread.php?tid=56&pid=337#pid337 and it's not working for me.
Ive tried in the original post, Quick Reply and New Reply options.
Amending original post looks good in the editor then is published with empty video links (I did have direct link videos from youtube published here and replaced the link with download links).
Quick Reply hangs with a spinning circle.
New Reply takes me back to the FanRes main page.
It might be because of the download destination (ADrive) or that it has .mp4 at the end?
