  [proposal] Ben Roderick's Color Grades
Posted by: Benclank01 - 2015-04-19, 07:26 AM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (10)

Hello everyone from FanRes.com, my name is Ben Roderick and I've always interested of doing a filmic look on animated TV shows like an anime show or a traditionally Western animated show. So, that's why I'm doing a proposal to show you my color grade of these animated TV shows.

What I do is to rip from any promo or bumper from an action animated block called Toonami and I converted these videos by using Freemake Video Converter (1080p!), then I do some video shaders from one of the popular video players: MPC-HC (Media Player Classic - Home Cinema) and do a codec filter called ffdshow by fully modifying the video and then I save an image from one of my videos and then I go to the Adobe Photoshop and I use an adjustment to making it an filmic approach to any anime or Western animated show.

Let me show you an example and I hope you will understand:

Original: http://imgur.com/1dCHznW =====> Roderick Color Grade: http://imgur.com/0Feyd9X

Pretty cool, huh? This is why I called "inspiration" because of you guys who been doing these good transfers from any movie to make any DVD/BD transfer better.

@ Ben Roderick

P.S. Is this proposal against the rules? Please tell me!

  Hitchcock's Psycho Uncut

a few month ago the movie was aired on german tv in it's uncut version,
which is not available on home video anywhere. the movie was shown in sd and hd,
though i believe the hd version just an upconvert. anyway, i've captured both streams
now i wondered if we can create a version without a logo and with english audio.

what ya say?

  PCM muxing problem occurring
Posted by: DoomBot - 2015-04-12, 03:43 PM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (10)

So the other day Buster D emailed me about Full Metal Jacket pcm i synced. The sync was perfectly fine other then a small glitch in the original ld rip that was easily fixed. The other problem was the very end of the movie or end of the LD pcm file. This occurred when muxing the pcm with the movie in tsMuxeR. Tsmuxer would add a loud 300ms or so noise at the end of the pcm file. I demuxed a pcm from a movie i didn't sync which was Batman, PDB synced this LD. Same loud noise at the end of the file. Buster D wrote me back and said even LDs he synced then demuxed had the same problem. Yes i have tried the newest tsMuxeR with the same results.
You could just go into setting (splitting/cutting)  in tsMuxeR to remove part of it getting rid of the noise.

Here's what the noise looks like....[Image: Capture_452.jpg]

Could you guys maybe demux some movies with LD pcm files and open them in a audio editing program to see if the same thing is happening?

Just watched this on Blu-ray, having previously seen it on Imax 15/70 and 35mm. I love the movie but I hear that it polarizes a lot of people. Some people hate it and it seems to have started an anti-Nolan backlash. So just curious what the good people of Fanres think.

Blade Runner International Cut  (regraded to the Criterion Collection Laserdisc - v1.0)

Project Info:

Just wanted to get this project that I'm working on up on Fanres. The genesis is here:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.c...pic/17070/

This was originally an experimental regrade to an old pan and scan LD until Jonno provided me with a capture of the vastly superior Criterion Collection laserdisc of the International Cut. So now it is a regrade to that laserdisc.

Video:
2013 Blu-Ray of the International Cut (IC) regraded to the 1989 Criterion Collection (CC) Laserdisc (LD)

Audio:
1. PCM 2.0 (from the Criterion Collection International Cut LD-Narration)
2. Dolby Digital 5.1 (from the Warner Bros International Cut BD-Narration)
3. PCM 2.0 (from the Warner Bros Director's Cut LD-No Narration mixed with the IC's Laserdisc PCM 2.0 and parts of musical score to fill the gaps)

Subtitles:
English (From the BD converted to SRT and SDH parts removed)
French (From the BD converted to SRT)
Spanish (From the BD converted to SRT )

Output:
MKV compatible within the spec for a 25GB BD

Thanks:
Jonno: for capturing the Criterion Collection LD
Doombot: for advice, help and testing
Buster D: for the various LD soundtracks
StarThoughts: for the music score to fix the ending
captainsolo: for information about the film and a 35mm showing
