  Wayne's World 2 - THX trailer
Posted by: TServo2049 - 2015-08-30, 01:27 AM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - No Replies

Here is something I think would be worth tracking down. There was a teaser trailer for Wayne's World 2 that was especially made for THX theaters. I saw it once as a kid, and never saw it again. I've read about it on the Film-Tech forums, and a print actually showed up on eBay a while back (but it already sold by the time I found out about it).

This is one of those rare, not-available-on-video trailers, like the Spider-Man World Trade Center teaser, or the original Hook teaser with the map. But unlike those, there isn't a video copy of it anywhere online either.

It has shown up on eBay before - anybody want to keep an eye out in case it turns up again? (For that matter, does anybody perhaps know someone who has a copy, or perhaps could inquire on one of the 35mm forums?)

I'd love for this to get found, scanned, and the sound properly captured in Dolby. The surround was apparently really cool (though all I remember is the Deep Note scaring the bejeezus out of me).

  Subtitles Converting and Editing
Posted by: PDB - 2015-08-18, 08:22 PM - Forum: Audio and video editing - Replies (12)

So I'm having a bit of trouble with subtitles and was wondering I could get some advice. I demuxed the subs from the Blade Runner and Alien BDs and have them in .sup form. I need to modify the sup into txt/srt/whatever so I can edit them to fit my regraded BD that I'm making. I assume I have to use an OCR to convert the sup to txt.
For example with Blade Runner I cut out the Warner logo and need to convert the sup into text, re-do the timing and pop it into Adobe Encore to produce a BD. Anyone have a methodology?

Hello lads,

I need someone who would be able to rip both video and audio from Laserdisc player. I will send you the disc, you would rip the loseless audio for me, video and reship the disc to me. I would of course pay you for whole hassle Smile

Video Batman Forever: The Virtual Workprint
Posted by: Bad_Replicant - 2015-08-12, 10:10 PM - Forum: Released - Replies (11)

Heyyy everybody. As I'm sure some here know, there's long a been a heap of evidence re: everything cut from Batman Forever before it was released. Some of it finally made its way onto the DVD box set that came out in 2005, though there's still more buried in WB's closet.

The idea behind this edit was to realize what an earlier cut of the movie might've played like, with as much extra footage included as possible, as well as restoring the original narrative. Think what Charles de Lauzirika did for Alien 3, only with some guy on an old Macbook Pro running Final Cut 6 and a movie not as many people care about. All deleted scenes from the DVD are included, along with alternate shots from the trailers. Some of the additional material is tweaked to help it flow, as it appeared to be lifted from a very rough cut. A lot of care was taken in making the transitions as seamless as I could, especially with sound and music. I utilized selections from Elliot Goldenthal's scores for Forever and Batman & Robin to complete the soundtrack -- one of the big differences between this and other edits out there, most of which use Danny Elfman's themes to up the Burton-factor. I also did some minor tinkering with the theatrical footage to reflect some of the other differences one might find in a workprint.

As a side note, I'm not an overly technically savvy person. Looking around here, I'm clearly out of my depth in terms of being on point with specs and such. I did do a few things to downgrade the quality of the theatrical footage so everything could bridge together more convincingly. Most of the decisions in this respect were just based on what 'felt right' at the time. This also goes for my encoding/exporting which I'm sure is goofy, though I think the roughness around the edges kind of helps. It's in SD, and everything was taken from the 2005 DVD with the exception of some of the trailer shots which had to be sourced elsewhere.

The only problem was a framerate issue that cropped up in some of the deleted scenes when ripping, only effecting certain shots within the footage. I tried to get to the bottom of this several times to no avail (this was several years ago), so I'm not sure if it was an issue with the program or me just not being able to troubleshoot it successfully. At any rate, I don't believe it detracts much.

Lightbulb Persistent New/Today's/Unread Posts links
Posted by: Satanika - 2015-08-12, 12:40 PM - Forum: Bug reports and suggestions - Replies (1)

Would it be possible to have the quick links - View Unread Posts etc. - at the top of the page so they never expire?
I mean, for example, I like to always be on the View Unread Posts link, but when I load the page the next day or so it says "An invalid search was specified. Please go back and try again." and I have to click the link again.
Yes, just a minor inconvenience, but still an inconvenience. Smile

Video Godzilla VHS Archives for future projects?
Posted by: Jetrell Fo - 2015-08-04, 11:27 PM - Forum: Official and unofficial releases - No Replies

I've got some Godzilla VHS tapes that I think I will start capturing. They might come in handy when some folks are doing the Toho restorations that some of us love dearly. I know I mentioned this a bit over at OT.com and I think Spaced Ranger mentioned some interest.

Anyone here want to chime in, add some suggestions, feel free to do so.

Smile
