Silence of the Lambs gets a 4K Remaster by Criterion
#31
I never really got this film.
It just didn't grab me.
I know that's crazy, and Ive many positive things to say about it.
When I hear fans opinion on the film, it's exactly my reaction to Se7en.

That Criterion transfer is mighty sharp.

All I know is that the Image laserdisc has the 'timed' look with lots of blue whereas the Criterion is more neutral but still with some blue. I think the airport hangar scene was a yellowy-orange on the Image disc. Sounds awesome too. When I get time I'll cap it but it'll have to go to the back of the queue  Wink

Does your bluer-timed Laserdisc show a cyan mist in the opening credit training scene?

There is definitely some blue in the woods, compared to the Criterion which is more of a grey.

OK. I'd very much like to see that version.

It's interesting to note that the fullscreen ATV recording has colors similar to the Criterion DVD, but contrast to BD:

Just a side note, why are you calling these recordings ATV? I couldn't find any information on that and station is Russian NTV Big Grin As in Analog TV?

As in analogue TV recorded to VHS, from the looks of it. Big Grin

Well, I use ATV for analog (SD) TV, DTV for digital (SD) TV, and HDTV for digital (HD) TV - just because I'm not aware of any MUSE recordings - not talking about HD-MAC, but this is another story... Happy

Fullscreen DVD has the "new" color grading; but this could be helpful for an eventual AAP-AR version (if everyone would be interested in it, by the way):
