I just received an unopened VHS release of the DC. What you've done looks nice.

Been looking for an HD version of TMP. Just finished watching the brilliant STAR TREK CONTINUES fan series and it leads up to the movie. I'd love a copy!

FYI the director’s edition is streaming on Amazon prime UK if anyone needs to cap it.
Not sure if it has any benefits over the DVD or other SD sources Thanks given by: iguanaclerk

Can you check if it has burned in subtitles for the Aliens? The PAL DVD uses soft subs, but it's poorly upscaled from an NSTC master, so it doesn't look great.
Nice that they are putting the director's cut on streaming services, even if they aren't going to remaster it.

Sorry. False alarm
Despite being labelled as the directors edition. It is in fact the theatrical edition that is cropped to 1.78:1. 1080p though and includes the original on screen subs (even though Jonno has already fixed that for the community here with his release)

Wait, what? Are they digitaly burned into the Blu-ray master, or is it a different master all together? Strange that they would fix the font and then crop it (likely it was prepared for HDTV, but it's still odd).

(2019-01-02, 10:40 PM)Bigrob Wrote: Sorry. False alarm This copy is currently free on US Amazon Prime (not cropped). It's mostly the same master as the blu-ray, DNR and all, but it does have the original subtitles (and they aren't recreated, they are clearly opticals). Does anybody have the capability to make a nice cap of this? I'm not likely to do another version of this project with the news of a potential Director's Cut blu-ray project from Paramount, but it would be nice to have a copy of the subs as they were in theaters.
