So, I downloaded the old HD version of the Abyss, and made a comparison with the new blu-ray (sorry that it's not the exact same frame).
You can see the more teal-y and grainless new version in comparison to the old one, which I vastly prefer of course:

Now, I don't even know what is this Hulu thing, living in Greece.
Can that copy be preserved? (I mean downloaded or something?)

Hulu is a streaming service like Netflix or Amazon Prime.
Yes it can be ripped, and I'd wager it already has, though I've not seen a copy like that floating around.
In order to rip, people would have to have a Hulu account and then use the proper software.
There is a free-trial that lasts 7-days or something.
I'm not discussing the ripping aspect here as this group is not for that, but just trying to be helpful/informative so you know how these things work.

I do want to mention that a recent update to streaming encryption has made some of the software worthless. Until those companies find a way around it, I wouldn't expect to see the Hulu rip.

yup, forgot about that. Whoever came up w/ that probably got a big xmas-bonus from the studio honchos, lol. Its essentially a screen-capture recording. And nothing is stopping any of us right now from doing that w/ any movie or tv show on any stream, anyways. The perfectionist in me simply cannot accept a screengrab like that of a beloved film, there may be dropped frames, and the quality just is not the same as a 1:1 rip.

That's not true. The Hulu is much softer then the UHDs but it is still DNR'd, amongst a host of other issues. I previously talked about it here:

Sadly, the best version of TL is still the old HDTV/DVHS master.
