So, I downloaded the old HD version of the Abyss, and made a comparison with the new blu-ray (sorry that it's not the exact same frame).
You can see the more teal-y and grainless new version in comparison to the old one, which I vastly prefer of course: https://imgsli.com/MjU2MjM3 Thanks given by: alexp2000

French subs, but English language. I snagged the link. PM if there is any interest from those that can't figure out how to get it.

I wanted to ask something:
According to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HZ2iIqSrgU the Hulu HD version is unmolested from AI. Now, I don't even know what is this Hulu thing, living in Greece. Can that copy be preserved? (I mean downloaded or something?)

Yes it can be ripped, and I'd wager it already has, though I've not seen a copy like that floating around. In order to rip, people would have to have a Hulu account and then use the proper software. There is a free-trial that lasts 7-days or something. I'm not discussing the ripping aspect here as this group is not for that, but just trying to be helpful/informative so you know how these things work. Thanks given by: titanic

Whoever came up w/ that probably got a big xmas-bonus from the studio honchos, lol. Its essentially a screen-capture recording. And nothing is stopping any of us right now from doing that w/ any movie or tv show on any stream, anyways. The perfectionist in me simply cannot accept a screengrab like that of a beloved film, there may be dropped frames, and the quality just is not the same as a 1:1 rip.

I previously talked about it here: https://fanrestore.com/thread-4865-post-...l#pid83148 Sadly, the best version of TL is still the old HDTV/DVHS master. |
