Yes, I had the same problem, that's why I had to re-encode.
But I used Handbrake to encode at 12 MBPS at 2 passes, which, given the source, and the cropping of the black bars, is good enough.

I should stress that I have no qualms with Zoidberg's encode, given what he had to work with, but I am talking about the master itself, for as much as I perceive it to hold up against the BD.

I'm sorry to hear people are having difficulty with this release. Would this be a problem with the muxing or with the encode? Obviously I would like to eliminate these bugs from any further releases in the future.

It's playing absolutely fine in VLC for me. I can try burning it to a disc in a few days and see if that works as well.

I've synced up the 5.1 from the old, non-anamorphic DVD, on the suspicion that it's a direct port of the THX laserdisc AC-3 track (which is of course a transfer of the 70mm 6-track mix). The surrounds are mono so that's a pretty good indication that it's pre-remix. Haven't watched it through myself, yet, but the scenes that I've sampled sound nicely hefty!

Anyway, if anyone would like to give it a listen send me a PM. And thanks to Zoidberg for the pointers on the missing frames!

Just a home theater, a Panasonic lcd projected onto a 120" screen Big Grin

I built a room in the basement just for my theater though.
