[Cancelled] Mad Max 2/Road Warrior Regrade (Warner 97 DVD and LD)
Sorry to necro post, but in regards to the Saul Bass Big W that was originally used I may have found a decent source that has the exact variant without "Presents" and is in 4:3 if no one decided on anything yet.

It appears rather zoomed in though, but take a look at der image for yourselves and see if it would be of any use.

This being a project of interest and me being in front of open Photoshop right now resulted with this Smile

Zoomed it out, approximately to size of 2.35 Enter the Dragon logo at Warner logo evolution from that other thread,
and left unmasked so it can fit nicely in both 1.33 and 2.35/2.39.

I gave the SOMEONE'S WATCHING ME! blu ray a spin the other night and it had the logo sequence in 4:3.

That blu ray looks ace! It has the two versions, original in 4/3 and the Widescreen one.

Sorry for the late response guys, been having computer issues. I appreciate the help with the logo.

Sadly, it appears the logo is pretty much unique beast. You can't crop down a 2.35/2.39 logo to work and the geometry of the 4:3 standard logo is not quite right. There are various things that were off. I think it's covered earlier in this thread but I went through pretty much every surviving Saul Bass logo I could find and either the text was off, the geometry was off, the fade was wrong, etc.

Lucky there was a great member, tas007 (who doesn't seem to be active anymore) who blew up the DVD logo and digitally recreated/painted it from scratch. It was/is a great piece of work that is the logo I'm using for this project.

Since I'm releasing the movie with two different titles, I had the thought to use the two different color sources that are available to me for each version.

Jonno was nice enough to give me a copy of the widescreen LD. Both the LD and DVD are from the same master but the DVD has been further color corrected by adding the normal horrible red color bias to the picture, plus adjusting other levels. And although I reduced that red, particularly in the shadows, there is still a ton of red to the picture, whereas the LD tends to be more orange/yellow. In the end they look similar but the subtleties are completely different.

I will darken the ld a little and brighten the dvd to be closer to each other.

So tentatively I regraded Road Warrior to the DVD and Mad Max 2 to the LD (with added luma from the BD). I would say neither one is better than the other just different.

Beautiful. While the DVD version has some nice added depth to it, I'd argue the graded to LD version is probably closer to release prints because of all the red push that's in the DVD master. When I toggle between the two on my Sony set they're even closer due to it defeating inherent the red NTSC push.

PDB I still would be happy to sync the french 5.1 from the NTSC DVD to this release. Should be a breeze.
Also I have a resync of the french stereo track (as all Blu-ray and HD-DVD worlwide have that track botched with about 3mn out of sync during Papagallo speech) by user CarmeloMike which could be used to make this release unique.
