[Canceled] Batman (1989) - Open Matte (Upscale Project )

If it was only the PCM sync, I might be able to help you out.

Yep that is about 75% the reason why. I have too many projects going on and the major bottleneck for me is syncing the soundtracks. In fact I have 3 project that are basically done except for the soundtrack sync.

It takes forever for me to sync a track since I'm super, super anal about it. So what was once fun is a bit of a chore. I just figured on getting rid of a few projects to lighten the load which included this and the predator upscale.

Batman was done except for the sync on the PCM so if you want to do the sync Tom, dragging this project over the finish line, I'll put it is the roster to finish (which shouldn't be much work since the 264 and 5.1 are done).

Let's do it. I'm probably not as anal about it as you are, but better than nothing, right? I just need the reference audio and the audio to be synced. If you can give 'em to me, I'll do it. I have a tiny little Batman project of my own that's pretty much finished. Unrelated really, but it means that I'm kinda motivated to do this.

I do have the normal Batman 1989 Blu Ray audio, but I guess it might not be exactly the same as the DVD you're trying to sync to?

You mention having synced an LD PCM track. That a different one than the Widescreen LD PCM you mention? What about including them both if one is already synced? Or did you mean that you synced it to the Blu Ray, but not to your project?

Ive really enjoyed your upscale projects.
Evil Dead 2, Army Of Darkness and BTTF are all awesome. Beyond some amazing upscale skills. The grades, audio options and the fact they are Open Matte really make them a must have for me.
They are pretty close looking to 35mm release scans in my opinion.
I was looking forward to both your Batman and Predator releases

But what your doing with dated HD masters in your '35 Projects' balances out my sadness though! it is well worth prioritizing these over the upscale gems

I'm sure your sync will be great. I'm just running on the enemy of good is perfect. I had synced the LD PCM to BD previously but not this DVD, the DVD is different then the BD with missing frames.

You are right the 35 project kind of took over for this but maybe I can finish this. The original plan was to do this, Predator, Total Recall, T2 (An Arnold Trilogy) and the Abyss. So maybe I will get around to finishing this up with at least those movies.

Yeah, Predator needs some love. Is it even worth re-graining the waxy master? My gut says de-block the Mpeg2 or try to align the two masters together creating a hybrid.

Just a quick question: Is 48 kHz the original sampling rate? If not, what software have you used to resample? If it's not the original, I would like to suggest to do the sync in the original sampling rate, and then upsample the final sync. Leaves more flexibility, as you theoretically always have more options with the original. Also, the file says "corrected". Have any further changes been made to it?

Update: The peaks are also rather low, with the highest peak at -7.67 dB. Is that the original state? Cause that'd be rather strange for a studio, to sacrifice 6 dB of dynamic range on a 16 bit audio. Also, I tried a quick sync of your sync track to an Open Matte DVDRip I found and it doesn't match up; though that's not a big deal in and of itself if you've done some modifications - just wanna make sure you didn't accidentally upload the wrong files.

The original file was capped at 44.1 but I always convert to 48 for it to be BD/DVD compliant. I have to see if I still have the original cap hanging around.

Yeah it won't match the DVD at all. There are too many frame, logo, shot differences. The BD is a bit different being a newer, better transfer.

But didnt you write in your original post that the source is the Open Matte DVD? Shouldn't it sync up with that? Or are there multiple Open Matte DVDs?

According to the LDDB a possible open matte PAL release from Spain exists.
