Is the Criterion LD close? Cause I love your regrade there too

Edit browsed thru the thread, I really like the original 1982 LD early color gold timing, seems the Criterion is halfway different.

The Criterion is better IMO. The Embassy LD is just NTSC pushed over the top.

But both are similar in many ways in the color timing choices but there are differences.

So concerning Blade Runner 2049; I went back to the drawing board on that one. The regrade was just turning out too blue (which happens when you remove the green and yellow) when compared to the cams, etc. So, I had an idea and pulled together as many VFX plates from effects demo reels as I could find, assuming that they would be done before the green color timing was added. Sure enough that was the case and it matches roughly to the cams (blown out and raw as they are). I also found a few shots from a 35mm print. Anyway here is a current look at where the grading for 2049 is when mixing together all those elements:

And a little update on the third version of Blade Runner, the "Restored" Theatrical Version. I wanted to restore as best I could what BR was suppose to be for its original 1982 release before major compromises set in. For this there will be no narration and no "happy ending". I will have the IC violence that was removed for rating purposes and this will not have the unicorn sequence which thematically changes the film. This conforms the film a little closer to the original intentions and closer to the workprint. The BR's color timing tweaked to be close to the "deleted" scenes, some 35mm frames/trailers and other assorted materials. But overall it's very close to the official BD's colors with certain notable changes. Tentatively I will mix a second DD 5.1 track which is a mix of the workprint soundtrack and the IC soundtrack. So no narration except at the end, Roy's father line, VO for the spinner travel sequences, etc. But that depends on the skills required.

Probably too early but has anyone spotted the open matte version of BR 2049 yet. Per reddit, it seems to be floating around on, maybe, VOD:

No word. I checked HBO in the US and they are running it OAR. Nothing has appeared yet in the normal Russian places.

In the end, I'm becoming less enamored of open mattes and just wanted this one so I could re-create the IMAX experience more then seeing more picture.

No info of note. I lost about 3 weeks of work on a couple of corrupted files so that sucked....only now have I gotten the work done again. The redone IC is finished and ready to be rendered with audio done. The new TC is 80% done color wise and the DC is about 50% and 2049 is ready to be rendered.

Otherwise this project is going to take a while since it's turning out to be the most extensive and difficult project I've ever done.

It’s basically an isolated score for the final cut that I might be able to repurpose for the dc.
