For Jurassic park :
Jurassic Park (1993) — 1.33:1 FS — DVD
Jurassic Park (1993) — 1.78:1 OM — HDTV 1080p — OAR 1.85:1

==============================================================

The current Jurassic Park Open Matte 35mm version, only has select scenes in open matte,
so that could be added to the list.

For those looking for it, look to myspleen:
------------------------------------------------
Sourced from a 4K scan of a 35mm original release theatrical print

Long awaited by some, the open matte version of Jurassic Park is finally here. It has not been completely cleaned up, but the worst scratches, frame jumps and cue marks were removed. The color is not faded and is completely intact, and no, saturation does not need to be increased. Aspect ratio of this release is variable - special effects shots are hard matted on the print (meaning that no extra image can be shown).

The Godfather Trilogy website has a page about The Godfather videotape releases (VHS was exclusively referred) being only fullscreen (in fact, open-matte) whereas the DVD releases were only widescreen. Considering the home media timeline, I expected that pan & scan laserdiscs were also open-matte. This was confirmed later when I saw your open-matte list, which has a laserdisc for use with Blu-ray widescreen.

So I put a pair together just to see how much real estate was involved (edges are outlined for easier assessment) . .

Dario Argento's The Stendhal Syndrome has always been released in 1.66:1 aspect ratio and IMDb lists 1.66:1 as its original aspect ratio, however, a very recent US release on Blu Ray (by Blue Underground) is presented in 1.85:1. When I enquired about it they told me that the film was scanned for the first time from negative and several shots were hard matted in the negative! The 1.66 framing crops the picture off, sometimes on all four sides. 1:85:1 looks right and doesn't crop the sides. This means that IMDb and previous releases were wrong.

1.66:1 aspect ratio can be found in the 2008 Blu Ray release (and previous DVDs)
AKA thxita on OriginalTrilogy
I preserve movies as they first appeared in Italy.

Death and the Maiden : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109579/

According to IMDB, it's supposed to be 1.85:1, and the WEB-DL I have is just about that. However the recording I made from the French-German channel Arte HD is about 1.66:1 and has more in the frame on the 4 sides (well, maybe just 3, the left I'm not sure). And it looks more filmic.

I recall downloading a HDTV version of this and finding it was cropped instead of open matte. I don’t think it was filmed Super35

The HDTV is cropped, even if, to say the truth, it has a slightly more details top and/or bottom. And, the color grading is different from BD.

The 2001 DVD of Tommy (1975) is open-matte; the Special Edition and Blu-ray are both widescreen
Images for comparison... Blu-ray overlaid on top of DVD screengrabs.

This DVD appears to be a direct untouched transfer, although it doesn't have the original "Quintaphonic" soundtrack (I believe the BD has).
