Pretty much. Is it possible to get it in a higher quality than what the link provides?

Actually, the contrary is true: BD retains the OAR (or, better, IAR = intended aspect ratio, the one seen in the theaters), while DVD has more image than OAR; I'm not aware of any open matte WEB source, nor HDTV.

EDIT: moved these two post to not derail the other topic.

I get an itch now and then to buy the extended edition on blu and then I see screens like that.... I think I'll hang on to my extended DVDs for now. Maybe they'll get a nice master if/when they make it to UHD?

I think they have defended that green tint, though. So I think it's unlikely that a UHD transfer will look very different.

Did anyone by any chance mention Willy Wonka?? I have the 1996 and 2001 DVDs (FS & WS) plus a capture of the 1994 VHS. Pretty sure the FS versions are open matte. I can post grabs if needed.

They defended the green tint due to this industrial accident would have cost to much with a replacement program. The green suddenly lifts at some point midshot, so it's obviously a bug.

But it's kind of an unusual one - like the Harry Potter films, there are cases the top and bottom of the frame is opened up, but it appears that parts of the side you see in the widescreen version is chopped off. What do you reckon?

I figured I'd still share some images since there's some interesting stuff to note. I don't have the BD so I'm only sharing DVD grabs. Anyways the scene I'm mostly gonna talk about is the scene where the family is watching TV of the news announcement of the contest. The 1994 VHS and Fullscreen side of the 1997 DVD feature a blooper in the shot of Charlie turning to Grandpa Joe asking if he has a chance of finding a ticket.

Note the TV is off in this shot?? On the widescreen versions the TV screen is cropped out while the 2001 Fullscreen DVD the screen is mostly cropped out.

2001 DVD (FS)

Another interesting thing is the closeup of the TV screen earlier in the scene. The 2001 fullscreen DVD shows the name of the brand on the bottom while the other editions have this cropped out. Also note all around the widescreen side of the 1997 DVD seems to show more image than the 2001 widescreen DVD??
