Return of the Living Dead (1985) Shout Factory BD with edited credits
#51
If I had to judge which BR version was framed correctly by looking only at one single shot then I would pick this one.

The moon is more pleasantly framed in the US version, it's mostly cut out in the UK version (the inner image) in what appears to be a poorer composition.

If we ignore the beginning of the film, the length of the two versions only differs by 6 frames, with the UK version being six frames shorter. The US version has two scenes each one beginning with 3 extra frames. Shouldn't be too difficult to sync the audio

Super research, Evit! I loved all your details! I already knew the US had less crops cause I compared them over a year ago and saw most scenes had more within the frame. The Tarman and teenagers meeting is one of the best examples. That's why I wanted the US used for main source and UK used for fixing the end credits. I believe the frames with the correct The Damned song is literally all we need video wise from the UK BD. And not even all of each frame... Just The Damned credit. Haha I'm really excited to see all this happen as this is my favorite zombie flick and it deserves to be preserved correctly. I want to thank all of you for all your work and input. I had almost given up hope that there was interest because I posted this thread so long ago now. Haha

And the Orion intro. Speaking of, I'm gonna have to re-create this one from scratch (unless someone has an HD version, even if it's a different color). It's supposed to be after the final crawl

Oh geez. I forgot about that logo! I don't know right off of a blu-ray release with it bit let's hope someone here does know where we can get our hands on it! I personally would love it included but it isn't a deal breaker if we can't fix that. Would definitely be great to though.

Based on above, i'm happy for you to go ahead and use the US source. I'm sure spoRv will pipe in and give his opinion.

We're fixing it, let's fix everything. I'm probably gonna have to encode it once, we might as well re-create it entirely correct. In fact, I'll take advantage of this to fix the couple of "jumpy" frames at the beginning of a couple of reels.
Beber, can you pass me a copy of the Robocop one?

The ending orion credit from robocop could work, but again that one looks too clean and stabilized. I have the one from the 2007 robocop bd that is an older resto but would mesh beyter and need to be tinted red.
