[Canceled] The Terminator Regrade (UK Virgin VHS Regrade)
|
To narrow down the time that japanese mix was done:
According to Amazon.co.jp the DVD I possess was Releases 2003: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00009CHC1/ At the moment I cannot tell if that is accurate, or not. I am not near my DVD collection until the Weekend next week, to search for any date indication on the box or in the inlet. According to yesasia, it is from 2004. https://www.yesasia.com/global/terminato.../info.html Seems as it was talked about 2003: https://forum.dvdtalk.com/international-...ition.html Edit: Okay, one of the two ordered DVDs is quite recent from 2015, if the iicture is correct. The Other, I hope it is the one pictured I get: That would be the 1998 japanese DVD release. Maybe Japan even got a 5.1 DTS release of the mix we have in Stereo on one of their DVDs. I know it is just a small chance, but I do not want to abandon all hope for that.

I am hesitant to order that BD as well. It is quite expensive, but surely, would be a great item in my DVD shelf, next to the Terminator and Terminator 2 DVDs/BDs I have...

May it possible that the japanese BD also has a slightly better encode than the western world disc?
It is stated to have 32mbps video Bitrate in the blu-ray.com entry. That is about the same as the UK Disc, so I assume the Video may not differ, but with Japan being sometimes a bit nuts about quality, in a positive way... EDIT: Nevermind, just read the Review that was inked on page 8 again. Video and english Audio exact same entcoding as the known disc.

In this thread:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p...ostcount=8 it is stated that the english Audio and the Video is the same as the remastered FOX Version. But the Steelbook with the Face is exactly the same disc as the previous released "Japanese Dub Complete Edition". So, the steelbook ( https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B013U7750W/ ) shown in that link above has the same disc as that one: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B00U0YPB5A/ You can also see at Amazon, on the slip on the backside of the steelbook, that it contains 5 Audio tracks, 4 japanese, and one english. (No, I cannot read japanese, but I recognise the symbold on the Audio tracks. ) As an exsample, the regular japanese BD only Show 2 Audio tracks on the backside: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B079VP8D86/

So, yesterday my japanese Full Dub BD arrived.
Today I got a quick check on the Audio tracks. Just one Scene, the assassination of the first Sarah Connor. 2. TV Asahi (Broadcast: September 8th, 1991): DTS-HD MA 1.0 <- searched "BAM" sound 3. TV Tokyo (Broadcast: May 29th, 2003): DTS-HD MA 2.0 <- not loved "PEW" sound 4. VHS: DTS-HD MA 1.0 <- searched "BAM" sound 5. 2001 SE DVD: DTS 5.1 <- searched "BAM" sound (768 kbps DTS) Edit: Now with a minute more time to post. Previous part was done quite quick, just before I head to go to work... I did not check which of these dubs the ultimate Edition DVD has, but I assume it is the last on the list. So seems as we got the Stereo DVD Track in 5.1 on the BD. The Disc does not seem to be mastered that "new" even without any german Audio or subtitle, it still has the German languaged copyright text at start up. So it is quite possible that the Audio tracks are sync to the internationl 2015 BD, already.

I do not know if the 5.1 is the same as the stereo. But it is stated to be a DVD track. So it is quite possible that the DVD is just a down mix of that 5.1 track.
I cannot check the dubs at the moment, I am not at home. But the answer to the first question is easy: No 2.0 with old sounds on BluRay, so none is the exact same stereo track as the DVD track.

I think switching the center is not that easy way, because I think some things may be mixed in the surrounds, like the off screen police shouts in the police station assault.
But I am not sure of that. I did not analyse the mix...

Is anyone surprised, if I hope that "someone" also will do an according German track? think no one is surprised...
