I recommend you try sync by video. makes things so much easier. It can help on those 5-20ms gabs

PDB ripped the PCM so I don't have video to work with anyhow. The gaps don't bother me, for the most part it's easy to tell where frame differences are. Where video is useful is when they completely remix the soundtrack and shift elements around so music is in different timing with sfx/vocals, etc.

I don't want to sidetrack convo too much but one thing I've noticed with video frame syncs I've looked at is that they are commonly 1/2 frame off from the tracks on the disc. I'm guessing its due to NTSC framerate conversion since you end up with 2.5 video fields per frame on LD. It seems harder to me to get something accurate-ish from the video side since not only do you have to capture field perfect video and align your digital track to that, but it also needs the pulldown reversed. Unless I'm mistaken on something?

Pulldown shouldn't have any effect on the sync in terms of going from 23.97fps to 29.97fps.  Errors in inverse telecine can, of course, have a slight impact, but my experience is that changes in cadence mean that even if recombining of fields leaves certain sections half a frame out (which is as bad as it tends to get and is pretty minor), later sections fall back into sync, so loss of sync is rarely constant across the duration of a movie: it lasts only up to the next cadence-change or edit, whichever comes first.  And the problem with comparing syncs to the tracks on a commercial disc is that we have no guarantee that the latter are perfect anyway, and sometimes we know that they are not.  In other words, it's case of: We don't have access to the materials required for perfect synchronicity, so we do the best that we can.

Does anyone have the old LD soundmix synced up with the new 4K transfer with HDR already put together as a file that they would be kind enough to provide. I don't have the know how or tools to do it myself. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.
