[No Longer Available] The Dark Knight Scope/2.35 Version (Quick Project v1.0)
#21
Looks pretty good so far Tom. You can definitely see the better edges that the AI is creating over say something like sharpening.

Most be pretty fun to keyframe all the scope scenes vs IMAX scenes, since Nolan didn't just slap black bars on top. He did a pan job.

Anyway... just for my understanding: You use the UHD for the main video, converted to SDR, but with the colors of the iTunes version?
BTW, I still have the old 1080p versions of the Nolan movies from iTunes, that have shifting aspect ratios on BD/UHD -> Dunkirk, Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises & Interstellar

Those upscaling results are really good.
With those results it would be good enough to use with AutoOverlay and the BD at least.
Are there any members who can use AutoOverlay willing to help with the shots required?
There are only a few not accounted for.
I wish I could do more but I can not seem to get to grips with AutoOverlay, and im afraid at the moment Time is not permiting me to. Smile

Yep, I think it might work, though I haven't tried it myself.

Might not even be necessary to use AutoOverlay for most shots, from the IMAX shots I saw they don't seem to be panning around too much. Only shot I can remember they panned around actively during the shot (from viewing full-frame HD IMAX and SD side-by-side) is when Joker got out of the truck, the first few seconds of it or so. No guarantee ofc.

So update. Someone was nice enough to share a very good cap of the new TDK master in scope.

Originally I was going to splice in the 4K BD into the project for the 2.39 scenes and use the Itunes and cropped 4K for the IMAX scenes but the cap is so good I might just do a tiny bit of tweaking, add a bit in the beginning and end and release it as is synced to the C-DTS.

So big thanks, that made my job a lot easier.

I'm really looking forward to this Smile

I'm not a fan of changing AR, It takes me out of the film.
The experience of a shift when projected on a 50 foot screen is something completely different in my eyes.
The full IMAX open matte should be made available as an option via seamless branching (or an extra feature), but viewing as a story experience Id much prefer it constant.

Any plans to do Rises?

I can understand hating the changing AR. I like both versions of the film and would like giving the consumer the choice as to what they want to watch. I would hope moving into the streaming world that could happen. Since storing 2 version of a movie requires little to no resources but I somehow doubt that.

I'd love to do TDKR but don't have the materials to do it right now. Maybe in a future date.

Think I'm ready to call this done. I tweaked the color a little. The 4K convert to SDR, the iTunes and this master were 98% similar in colors. I just tweaked this to be a middle ground between them. Nothing major. Big thanks to the person who donated it.

Participating members (aka no newbies) can PM me if they want a copy. Please allow me a day or two to get back to you. I'll keep it posted for a week or two.
