CD-i Digital Video Shortly before the advent of White Book VCD, Philips started releasing movies in the Green Book CD-i format, calling the subformat CD-i Digital Video (CD-i DV). While these used a similar format (MPEG-1), due to minor differences between the standards these discs are not compatible with VCD players. Philips' CD-i players with the Full Motion Video MPEG-1 decoder cartridge would play both formats. Only a few CD-i DV titles were released before the company switched to the current VCD format for publishing movies. Nothing but my Cdi plays those, or recognises the disc. But say, Dr. no I can drag the dat file off the disc in Windows Explorer

Ok so basically standard MPEG1 with formatting differences. Got it.
So you should still be able to see the MPEG1/DAT files in a cd/dvd/bd rom regardless of the book type right?

Weirdly they do not even appear

Well... With my PC using Power DVD to play the disc, I really assume that the Terminator 2 release is a normal VCD... I don't think that power DVD would implement an old CD type. They even stopped to support HD-DVD long time ago...

Problem is that the CDs seem to have rotten... VCD normally should not be any problem do copy, if the discs are okay. At least the VCDs I encoded myself from divx back in days where like "we have the mpg file just with a different file typing.. But still the same...
