[Idea] Prey (2022) with FIXED English subtitles?
#1
I loved Prey. I felt it was a great addition to the Predator franchise.

Being Native American, I was completely blown away that they made a Comanche dub, and it works quite well for the film!

Of course, cause nothing can just be perfect, the English subtitles for both the streaming version AND the physical 4K disc/Blu-ray can't just be plain ol' English subtitles, they also include details such as sound effects spelled out between dialogue! This infuriates me when I try to watch the Comanche dub, which is my preferred version.

Would anyone be able to take up the task to create a new English subtitle track that only retains the dialogue?? I just wanted to throw the idea out there in case anyone would know how to do that. Thanks.

Just OCR the UHD subs with Subtitle Edit, and then there's a function to remove cc subs

You could probably do this in less than 30min including taking the time to learn how to use Subtitle Edit.

Out of interest did they subtitle the French dialogue for the UHD? I think that was missing in the Disney version. Not sure if that was intentional though, i.e. the main character does not understand what is being said so neither should the audience.

The director is on record saying that he left French out on purpose. So if you are an English speaker you would be just as confused as the characters.

Forget the Subtitle Edit for ripping Subs from DVD/BD/UHD because it makes some mistakes and a bit unclean of italic codecs. I preferred to extract firstly by mkvextract or tsmuxer and then work with SubExtractor for ripping IDX/SUB and SUP. You can also remove SDH Subtitles at the end of process before you save it. I’m deaf and I have many knowledges. ;-)
