REGRADE | BD and UHD to U Matic Color |German| Discussion

My scientifically informed estimate is it's somewhere around 5 pixels in horizontal and about 3 pixels in vertical resolution. Don't hold me to it though!

Which regrade?

Raiders shows a lot of magenta hues IMHO, while Terminator seems not IMHO - and of course, they are both regrades, so possibly (probably) in the original U-Matic that could be even more!

I'm wondering if this guy does some chroma swap magic, as the colors really pop.

His The Terminator U Matic is probably a telecine of a print as he says it's a "cinema copy" so not based on any home-video version and probably just a 1/1 of the source with just the limitation of the tech of the original color capture.

His Alien which I posted in other thread years back is also 100% the original colors (as they match the one from the book made of 35mm stills and my remembrances), including blown out whites the movie had originaly!

So I dived further and found out the guy doing the U Matic remasters uses a free software called Shotcut.

It's a free video editor available on PC, Mac and Linux, and it looks a bit basic if you are used to Resolve or FCPX.

Maybe is there some tool in the software though, that make it easy to match chroma and luma from two different sources or match grade.
