On a private forum, it has since been removed but i was able to get it before it was taken down.

It is IMHO the best colour reference we have for the theatrical print plus has all the soundtrack versions.

Do you happen to have information on that release? Was there some comments regarding the color grading? Did they say they intervened in any way to emulate how it would look projected? Did they say on the contrary that they kept the scan as is?
It is indeed a very good reference, a better one than the Rutracker one regarding the outside of the bar for instance, as it doesn’t look as dark and green. The 1st Pescadero scene is rather brownish with a bit of pink reflections in the corridors. However the 6 month review scene is rather green. And the outside shots with John and his friend on the bike, Arnold locating them and the T1000 asking girls in the street look about like the 2017 remaster and rather cold unlike the other outside shots, before and after, that look much warmer. I'll also have to compare more extensively the steel factory as it seems this one is more orangy than yellow unlike the Rutracker one and the print I saw in 2015. I'll have to make some choices, it seems. Of course there's the option to make one choice for the theatrical cut and another choice for another cut, SE, Extended SE and custom cut...

The NFO i got with it only said the following:

From the NFO - This is a scan from a Terminator 2 Super 35 print with Cinema Digital Sound (CDS), sourced from the UK. It was shown in only about 14 U.S. theaters, making it significantly rarer than the 70mm release. While 70mm color references survive on isolated frames, few—if any—complete presentations match the visual characteristics of this Super 35 edition.

That would lead me to believe that this scan was untouched colour wise, given its size, it is more than feasible this is the print as is with no colour correction. Its not the german print that was used by Rob's Nostalgia Projects either before his lut grade, so i am just in the dark as you guys as to the source, however i got it from a dedicated 35mm scanner private forum so i do not question its authenticity and certainly colour wise its way more accurate than other 35mm scans out there.

I can see it’s not the same print, yes, as it doesn’t have the same splices. However it’s obviously not a Super-35 source as only the original negative is. The prints always are regular 35mm with the audio track on the side.

I think that T2 is getting a re-release of the orignal 35mm and 70mm showings in select locations on Aug 29th this year

Maybe if someone could get to the 70mm ones and take some snapshots of the colouring used on some of these scenes, i have seen a trailer for it and it does indeed look very much like this alternate scan, especially as there are some green shots in the t800 and t1000 first meet scene so i think they were originally that colour pallet but the added teal on the 2017 release makes it look extra sickly plus messing up some laser tints too and of course the DNR

Yes, I believe the Prince Charles in London will show a print, either 35 or 70mm. We would need somebody going to see it who already knows the differences in the scans so that they can testify which one looks closer.

I just checked: the Prince Charles Cinema will show it on 35mm 4 times from August 29th to late September, amongst many other 35 and 70mm events. I wish I lived there when seeing their list.

Theatrical, Special Edition, Extended Special Edition and a custom cut is the plan.
However I'm putting it on hold for now as another 35mm scan exists (misleadingly labeled as Super-35) that could be an even better reference that I wasn’t able to find yet. So if you can help with that, please come forward.

It will be a pleasure to help.

I got a question, Beber. When you mentioned before that you're also regrading Special Extended Edition (the one with the happy ending) to look exactly like the 35mm film print color timing, are you really actually doing it, right? Will that cut include a customized 5.1 mixed based on the CDS 5.1 mix as well?
