I'd like to see your progress, if nobody objects. You can also start a thread elsewhere for it.

This is what we're going for. If a new thread needs to be started I'm game.
original pic from ebay add: [Image: ozILbtD.jpg] shape corrected ebay add pic: [Image: 5G3W2PA.jpg] mysterious frame you found on google Silverwook, unblurred: [Image: kvjb08M.jpg] frame from one of the sequences in the diner - haven't completed and you'll notice the top of the sign goes into the top letterbox bar: [Image: DlTnBdX.jpg] I'm still trying to figure the best way to do this. I have played with it in Hitfilm and After Effects. I think what I will do, since there is camera movement and perspective changes, is treat it like a screen replacement (its done with smartphones in videos on youtube that I found where you replace the iphone or ipad screen with a new image). That way the image will lock to the area on the wall where is should and then I will make that comp a seperate layer and rotoscope anything that needs to pass in front of the sign. Of course someone else may be able to make the sign look better and it will need to be blurred to match the surroundings from shot to shot. but I'm going for it. Tracking, rotoscoping, keyframing - should be fun.

Would be so much easier if it was a static shot.
Couldn't hurt to start at thread at OT about this. There's a lot of crossover with the membership of fanedit.org.

That's a decent start you have there Chris Solo.
I wonder how much of a pain it would be to re-insert it for all of the frames... On that note, roughly how many frames are we talking about to fix this?

Thanks. I came down with strep throat and have been laying low but I did work on this before getting sick. I made a comp in After Effects of just this shot (it's about 2 seconds or so) and then layered the original shot over this and rotoscoped around the heads. It would actually look so much better if the original blur job wasn't so crappy. It will get done though. I will not be defeated lol

That's the spirit!

A little off topic but what tool/method did you use to position that sign correctly??

I tracked the shot in AE. I positioned and sized the coke sign image as a layer and assigned the tracking data to that layer. The shot will be tricky is the one where Danny and Kenickie are walking into the Frosty Palace. The sign is off in the background and changes perspective. I played around with rotoscoping and tracking in Hitfilm which is a powerful little program and a great alternative to After Effects at a great price.

Actually I was referring to how you got the eBay pic positioned correctly.
