We Are The Walking Dead (Mini-Series) FANedit
#81
Hey, Jerry, maybe we should work the "Jerry Shadoe and AMC PresentS" part from the credits.

Can you send me each frame of that little part in PNG format at full quality? Just the part where the text "AMC PRESENTS" is on screen. There shouldn't be more than 25-30 frames.

I want to try if I could remove the text (difficult since the camera is moving). If I manage to do that, you could add a custom text and get rid of that "S".

First, very nice job with the texture on the "part" Wink
The numbers look good too, but I prefer roman numerals when it says "part *" (*whatever the part number here) as I think it looks more elegant then regular numbers. Now that you have put the work into it, I will feel bad if I don't include itSad

I will test it and let you know what I decide, as now I'm not sure again whether to include it or not, and if I do whether to do it on the "we are the walking dead" screen or, like I mentioned earlier, on the fade-in to Rick in the hospital.

As far as the "cliffhanger" is concerned. I understand your idea, as (believe it or not) I attempted to do this in a very early workprint (long before I announced this project) and dropped it pretty quickly because as good of an idea as it is, there already is a "cliffhanger" with the fact that they leave the CDC after it just blew up and have no idea where they are going now, which the viewer wonders at the end too... so there is a cliffhanger AND trying to include the scene with Carl getting shot was anti-climactic to the scene that is actually at the end of the film, i.e. end of season 1. It was also very hard to incorporate the music at the end there with the scene of Carl getting shot as it made no sense to the context of the song playing, unlike the original where the song is very appropriate. So thanx for the idea, but it's not practicalSad

You bastard! NO, NO!!! I'M JUST KIDDING! Wink I was hoping no one would notice that "S" because it would be a b*tch to get rid of it. It's kind of funny to me (and those that have taken pictures on 35mm cameras and know about the lengths of film will understand) that the shot there with "AMC presents" is exactly 36 frames:

Jerry, try this PNG: https://mega.co.nz/#!JcBWjaya!HJxvm2F7Fa...FCnTajLu1M

I think the text is almost exact to the original.

That looks really nice and it looks like the text is roughly the same color as the "AMC presents" partWink

You helping me make these more professional has made me re-think some of the transitions I've used and I'm planning on making a couple of last-minute changes, only where I can. There are still a couple of scenes that are impossible to cut together seamlessly without use of crossfades (booo)

The release of this film might be "behind schedule" but I think it will be worth the extra wait for a better "final product." Smile

extra note: I forgot to mention, that your "subtitle" for the next film: "the boring farm days" made me laugh... But, seriously, I plan on cutting season 2 into an exciting, fast-paced film and, IMHO there is enough footage there to tinker a two hour long movie.

Well, getting rid of that "S" has been quite difficult. Luckily they were "only" 36 frames and not 200!

OK, so the stills look good enough, BUT I'm not sure how will the scene look in movement. I mean, maybe you don't see the "S" but you see the texture changing where there was the "S". I hope I did it well enough and maybe thanks to the dark background it will blend smoothly.

Here are the PNGs: https://mega.co.nz/#!RMYnFYaZ!X07av9eUgd...WyWhjWIsh0

Oh, and don't worry if you don't use the "PART X" texts. No problem. If you want to add the text over the live action footage I wouldn't use my texturized "Walking Dead" style text. I would go for a simple white text. Anyway I don't like too much the idea of putting text there (over the episode).

About the second season, I really hated it for several reasons, the first one being that in the comic-book they stay at the farm like 4 pages or so.

Having the characters walking around doing NOTHING didn't help either. Every episode was like "Hey, lets sit here and talk shit while we look at the horizon" and "Hey, let's eternally look for Sophia".

I like Daryl, but his episode dreaming of his brother was... ¬_¬U

I would recut that part getting rid of the hallucinations.

I found out that the font was Tungsten Bold for "PRESENTS" and Tungsten Medium for "AMC" (instead of the Tungsten Black of the "WE ARE" text), and had to apply the filter "blur more" because the font was too sharp compared with the "AMC PRESENTS" text.

Maybe you will need to tweak the color a bit (maybe lightening it a bit?), because I have a little daltonism and I have a hard time distinguishing between 2 similar colors. Or maybe I colored it close enough, I really can't tell for sure.

More things:

The only part I don't really like is when they arrive at the camp.

Couldn't you go back to the source material and recut it?

You could fade to black when they leave the city and fade in to Dale with the binoculars watching the red car approaching. We don't know who this people is, but as they are about to be introduced, I don't think it fits wrong. And also we see Shane before Rick arrives. I think it's too abrupt to have Rick already parked at the camp and looking at Shane.

so frames 1-26, 29,31, and 34 are fine.
it's real easy to see if it all matches. i just right-click on the first one in windows explorer, click on preview and then go from one to the next.
frames 27, 28, 30, 32, 33, 35, and 36 are a little off and the result, if used as-is now, will be a flicker there were the "S" was. Is there anyway those can be saved?

As far as the second film is concerned, I intend on making it seem like they are on that farm for two, maybe three days, and will have to do some massive re-ordering of the scenes to "glue" it together into a solid story-line. Honestly, out of all seasons, this will be the hardest one to put together.

Please tell me if this one looks right with a change I made. I'm not really sure: https://mega.co.nz/#!5FoHCDCI!hVypyWECCb...tUdL2FG8BA

It seems like it changes too much. I'm judging it by the yellowish "line" next to the "T" which looks straight in the images I mentioned are ok, but turns into a blob in the images I mentioned need work. Sorry if that's a confusing explanation. It's almost like the "missing" part might be able to be "copy/pasted" with some blending to smooth it out from previous frames... I hope, LOL

Hmm... I will try some things later, see if I can fix that.

I hope you don't think that I am just being difficult. Wink
I am grateful for all your help, time, suggestions, advice, etc.
You are helping me "manifest" the "vision" I had when I first thought of this project, before any work even went into it. Granted, I wanted a story that I would like, but I also wanted to be able to present something professional that others would enjoy as well. Between all of your suggestions and help with ideas and the textures on letters plus Andrea's idea of attempting to make this an multilingual release (well, really - just to be honest - Andrea only asked for an Italian audio track, which is where I got the idea, "Well, if I'm going to do Italian, why not see what other languages I could add too?")

Anyway, I am patiently waiting for your next images and once I have them, will start rendering the 1080p video so that the rest of the work can be finished and the first film can have a releaseWink

Look out season 2! I'm coming armed, with scissors, for you next, LOL!
