  The Howling (1981) Laserdisc Commentary
Posted by: Red41804 - 2025-11-01, 12:15 AM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - No Replies

I'm looking for a copy of a laserdisc rip of the 1995 commentary for The Howling (1981), which was later cut on all subsequent home video releases, including the Shout UHD. Anyone willing to rip and sync the track?

From dvdcompare:
NOTE: The 1995 commentary track produced for the special edition US Image Laserdisc has been edited over the years so unless you have that Laserdisc release, you have a cut version.

  A Simple Introduction

Hello!

Occasional FanRestore lurker for a long time, new registered user for the first time!

I mainly started to enter the forum right now as one who just assembled a comparison excerpt of three different versions of the 1989 movie The Abyss (1991 VHS/1990 telecine, 2002 DVD/1993 telecine [all 4:3], and 2000 DVD/1993 telecine [2.35:1]) and put it on the r/VHS and r/LaserDisc subreddits, as seen here.

I figured it would be interesting to see how it looked when compared against the older WEB-DL & HDTV prints, much less the 1990 LaserDisc that I have never seen anybody do direct capture clips of [to date] so far, especially as someone who became a big fan of this movie since 3 1/2 years ago, down to the month.

Wink The Rescuers 35 mm
Posted by: david49120 - 2025-10-27, 12:48 PM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - No Replies

Hello, i'm looking for "the rescuers" 35mm scan if it exists, I would like to sync it with the audio LD. The image of the restored blu-ray version has received some exaggerated pencil strokes. What do you think ?  The most affected Disney is "The Sword in the Stone", I still remember the 35mm original.

If the 35mm version is not available, I will settle for the image of the DVD which should be close to it, if it has not been restored. Thanks for help. 😉

Hi gang! I have worked professional for over 30 years as a DP and an Editor. While I have not done restoration professionally I do have a passion for it and do same some projects in the pipeline including a restoration for a well known anime that I will reveal more about in due time.

Hello everyone,

I'm a film lover who previously worked in the film archiving and restoration industry for 15+ years.

I discovered this forum doing a search hoping to find someone who had synced the original Bad Lieutenant soundtrack to a HD or UHD copy.

This looks like a great forum. Can't wait to explore.

  Innocent Blood English Subtitle Tracks issues.
Posted by: Doctor M - 2025-10-24, 10:43 PM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (3)

I've had various version of Innocent Blood over the years. The one I had the longest was a DVD conversion I made of the PAL European extended cut converted to NTSC with full menus and everything.

I started watching the Warner Archive Blu-ray reconstruction of the European cut and turned it off after 20 minutes. The English subtitles are abbreviations of what's being said. I was able to check the German release and they have the same subtitle tracks (but much worse video).

Outside of doing an OCR from the DVD, checking and rechecking to make sure they're perfect .SRT and then converting them to BD SUP files... is there an easier or better way?

I don't like any of the answers and considering sticking with the DVD.

  Pearl Harbor (2001) - Japanese Cut
Posted by: Bigrob - 2025-10-24, 10:24 AM - Forum: Official and unofficial releases - Replies (3)

Was reading on IMDB that the Japanese version of the film differs in a few places compared to the theatrical cut (and presumably the director's cut)

(have posted in a spoiler below since a couple of them could be racially sensitive so didn't want to offend anyone)

A speech by Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale) which tells how America helped win the war despite the attack at Pearl Harbor has been altered for Japanese and German releases, with the word "us" changed to "America's"

the December 7th date was changed to December 8th due to the time zone difference in Japan;

the words "Jap Suckers" changed to "Japs";

Colonel James Doolittle's (Alec Baldwin) line "Kill as many of those bastards as possible" was changed to "I myself would choose a tasty target";

Evelyn's (Kate Beckinsale) line "Before Doolittle's raid, Americans knew nothing but defeat; after it, nothing but victory" was changed to "After it, there was hope of victory";

a scene showing Japanese women in traditional kimonos and carrying parasols during Doolittle's Raid on Tokyo was omitted.

So i managed to pick up the Japanese 2 disc DVD to check it out as i assumed these changes wouldn't transition to the DVD releases

skipped to the scene where they changed the date on the calendar and compared it to the D+ stream and there it was! The Japanese version showed it changing from the 7th to the 8th due to the time zone difference of the attack.
