"Zack Snyder's Justice League" formatted for widescreen
Posted by: Beber - 2026-05-08, 10:05 AM - Forum: Released - Replies (2)

The project started there: https://fanrestore.com/thread-6845.html

Here's my widescreen 1.78:1 aspect ratio version of Zack Snyder's Justice League.

The composition of each shot, nearly 3.200 of them, was meticulously redone one by one without introducing in-shot artificial panning as the movie was originally intended to be matted to 1.85:1 anyway. Why not making it 1.85:1, you'll ask me? Well, 1.85:1 and 1.78:1 are very close to each other, plus 1.78:1 fills your 16:9 screen at home and can still be soft matted to 1.85:1 in some players such as VLC and some projectors can add mattes on the top and on the bottom as well. The source used was the UHD. The two discs were glued together, removing the indication that "Justice continues on disc 2", plus a few seconds of black screen were cut out between the two parts so the transition to the title screen of chapter 5 doesn't feel too different compared to the others. The color grading was made in Rec.709 and mimicks the official one as seen on the Blu-ray 1080p. The only liberty taken was the squishing of 8 shots during the Superman/Flash face-off where the VFX mostly already made for the theatrical release probably didn't fill the 1.33:1 AR which lead to a bit of cropping and stretching resulting in weird thin figures for our characters. When aiming for a widescreen aspect ratio, there was no reason not to squish those shots back to more proper proportions.

Here's a trailer I made for the occasion:

Video: available* in 1920x1080p and in 2880x1620.
Audio: English Dolby TrueHD Atmos, English Dolby Digital 5.1-EX, French Dolby TrueHD Atmos, French Dolby Digital 5.1-EX.
Subtitles: French, English SDH, French forced.
File sizes: 54.6GB in 1080p and 96.8GB in 1620p.

Hello everyone,
My name is FrBeyond, I’m 35 years old and I’m from France. I work remotely in the IT field, with a strong interest in technology and digital topics. I’m passionate about video games, especially immersive RPGs, as well as movies and TV shows in high quality. I care a lot about visual and audio experience, and I’m always curious about new technologies.

I joined this forum because I’m very interested in film restoration, and especially in different ways of watching films, aiming for the best possible quality and a more faithful or immersive experience.

I also have an interest in photography and cars, and in general I enjoy understanding how things work and exploring topics in depth.

  Introducing myself
Posted by: kzwzlrrb - 2026-05-03, 06:12 PM - Forum: Presentation - No Replies

Signing up because I saw a thread for the Dark Knight Rises imax scenes in 1.43:1 ratio.
My country doesn't have any imax theatres with said screen presentations, so im curious to know how it changes the scenes
and if they offer new information and excperience.

I'm also interested in knowing what other movies have same releases.
only movie with that tall imax ratio I have is the Zack Synder Justice League.

This post is now irrelevant

If anybody has a rip of the Mono mix from the reissued 4k steelbook of Bridge on the River Kwai, that would be great.

Sony is SOOOO notorious for gatekeeping movies on steelbooks. I hate it.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Finale 35mm Scan (Chicago War)
Posted by: thatguy23 - 2026-05-03, 12:42 AM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - No Replies

Would anyone like to see a 35mm Film Scan of the last two reels, 6 & 7, from "Transformers: Dark of the Moon"?

Reel 6 starts with Que giving the troops the Cybertronian weapons, basically the beginning of the War of Chicago. The rest of the film from that point on, from reel 6 to the end of reel 7, is the complete last 42 minutes of the film all the way into the end of the credits.

If I decided to do this project, it wouldn't be posted anywhere online, would only be available for those who potentially helped donate to the project.

At this point, I'm just curious to what the main consensus of doing this one is. I think it's worth it, because of the action, the depth of photoreal imagery, mixed with the vibrant colors. It would be incredible to watch, just as it was presented in theaters.

Looking to see if anyone has captured the above LD for Terminator 2? I know there is a PAL capture out there. Looking for the NTSC. Or equivalent 1:33:1
