Balto Cinema DTS or PCM Laserdisc audio
Posted by: ElLoboQueso - 2026-01-20, 05:40 AM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - No Replies

Considering that Balto has a 5.1 Surround Sound track on the 2002 DVD and the 2017 Blu-Ray release and I don't know if this is the original theatrical mix, does anyone have the Cinema DTS CD of that film or a laserdisc copy? I'm interested to see how this compares to the home video releases' audio tracks (especially with Cinema DTS) given the movie's obscurity.

Since Balto was in theaters for a short period of time cause it was a box-office bomb (Toy Story still being the hottest film at the time of its release contributed to the poor performance which led to Universal putting this film into direct-to-video in select territories 1-2 years later; ironically it spawned 2 DTV sequels), DTS discs are very hard to find and it would be a delight if these would get preserved.

Hi, all. The name is Zid, and I've been enjoying looking at all the amazing fan restorations that have been posted here for years. I thought I'd finally make a post introducing myself though I won't bore you with too much info. I'm a 50-something gal who loves animation, and absolutely adores The Secret of NIMH. If ever there was a film I'd love to learn how to do a resto on it would be that one as the studio hasn't ever given it much love. Hopefully someone else who loves it as much as I do who has the time, energy, and skill gives it a try. I love old Disney folks as well, and I'm a huge fan of anything Tolkien.

I'm looking forward to seeing more from this amazing forum. Thanks for all the hard work.
-Zid

Hi there.

Thank you to all the creators and restorators here for their amazing and important work. I cannot overstate how important your work is. As a child of the 80s it is wonderful to have the movies I love restored and preserved by real film lovers.

  Hello again!

Hey folks,

just a quick Hello to everyone. I once had been a member here many years ago, but I can't remember my name... I wasn't so active here, more of a lurker, so I guess we can rest that case. I registered in 2024, but for whatever reasons there were technical problems in logging in for a few weeks, so I totally forget about that community.

Today - with making fanedits myself for some time now, but more for private reason - I hope I can be more active here, and maybe get a good helping hand here and there in technical questions.

Some of you may know me from originaltrilogy.com, others from other communities, ...

Oh, and please don't be harsh if my grammar seems weird from time to time. I'm from Germany, I understand english in reading and hearing - but I have problems with writing and speaking Smile

I know some of you have a big collection of cdts. Any chance you guys have cdts 5.1 mix of trailers, like Dante's Peak, Eraser, End of Days, etc.?
I'd like to remux them with the best available video sources.

Thanks Smile
