Meet Me in St.Louis LD Audio
Posted by: jolennon - 2023-12-17, 06:22 PM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - Replies (1)

According to LDDB,

Released in 1990, [ML101827] carries a mono digital track ("Digital Video Transfer", "NEW Technicolor Restoration")

Released in 1994, "50th Anniversary Edition", [ML104754] carries a Dolby Surround digital track and Stereo Musical Score in the Analog track ("Digitally remastered for improved image and sound quality and has been remixed to Stereophonic sound from MGM's original multi-channel recording masters")

Released in 1998, [ML107086] carries a stereo digital track and musical score on the analog track

Does anybody know how these editions compare to the DVDs/BDs?

Days of Being Wild / 阿飛正傳 (1990) Criterion BD Mono Synced to Megastar BD
Posted by: axeyou - 2023-12-17, 02:50 AM - Forum: Released - Replies (3)

The 4K restorations of various Wong Kar Wai titles a few years ago are a mixed bag when it comes to PQ, most notably in their extreme color grading and DNR.

Here's what cowboydan on CriterionForum has to say about Days of Being Wild:

Quote:Days of Being Wild: The Megastar BD is quite good looking in true HD. Downsides are the poorly translated subtitles and the audio tracks are 5.1 and 7.1 remixes. The new restoration is good since it has the original mono track. But the color grading looks way too green and digitally filtered.

And a few caps comparing the two releases: https://www.criterionforum.org/forum/vie...73#p719673

So here's the original mono track from the Criterion BD synced to the 2008 Megastar HK BD (appears to be OOP but available from a certain Russian site).

Input: PCM, 1.0 mono, 1152 kbps, 48 kHz, 24 bits
Output: FLAC, 1.0 mono, 628 kbps, 48 kHz, 24 bits

Notes on the sync:
  • Criterion BD is 23.976 fps; Megastar is 24 fps. Speed adjusted with SoX.
  • There are 9 frames on the Criterion that's missing from the Megastar BD. They are sprinkled around. Trimmed some silence or background noise to sync.

PM me for a link. Enjoy!

On a side note: The 2013 French release purportedly features a 2.0 track. Would be interesting to compare that against the Criterion mono and also the PQ against the Megastar BD.

  Pearl Harbor (2001) - 35mm Trailer with Cinema DTS 5.1 2K
Posted by: bendermac - 2023-12-16, 09:28 PM - Forum: Released - Replies (1)

This is a YouTube rip from 35mm Movie Trailers Scans and it was only in 2.0 audio. I've added the 5.1 Cinema DTS audio from the remastered trailer by taas007 .
Big thanks goes to Dennis-Carl for the scan, @taas007,@DoomBot and @borisanddoris for making the C-DTS audio available.

I've removed a bit from the beginning and end, so that you wont see any leaders. The trailer didn't contain the MPAA card. The original audio from the YT file is not included, due to the framerate change.

Download: MediaFire

Video slowed down to 23,976 with MKVtoolNix and the audio is in perfect sync.

A Charlie Brown Christmas 1990 Shell Hi-Fi VHS mono
Posted by: James76 - 2023-12-13, 12:10 AM - Forum: Requests, proposals, help - No Replies

I own A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) on a late-1990's VHS release. Could someone possibly rip the mono track from the 1990 Hi-Fi VHS by Shell and sync it to the UHD? According to Blah-ray, the Shell VHS sounds superb. Thanks!
