Im' not sure it's censored, I'm guessing the longer print maybe an uncut print that superceded the theatrical release at some point on home video.

There was a theatrical viewing of "The Great Silence" in Germany in the year 2007, that contained the complete Version, that also was used on early German DVDs. While the firsat Release in Germany certainly was shorter. Also, if it would be a print from italy or france, I would also assume that it would be the original theatrical cut, but it is a German release, of a somewhat violent movie. I would highly assume that it was cutted down to get a rating in Germany.

Need to rip this, put it on a timeline and compare the prints. That's too bad because it will make syncing audio tracks difficult.

According to dvdcompare.net, the JP BD has PAL speed-up. A video+audio capture of LD BELL-903 might be the way to go. Does anyone have it?

That's a shame if true. I don't remember PAL speed-up on this so I'll check tonight to be sure. Still interested in making this a project..I love this movie to death. Just need to get the materials together. If anyone has the Japanese LD , please let us know.

This is not a problem, in my opinion, just something of which to be aware. (2017-12-14, 05:53 PM)PDB Wrote: That's a shame if true. I was planning to upscale the US DVD, UK DVD and maybe the JPN BD and then merge them but using the German disc is a much better scenerio

The US DVD might be a good stopgap if we can't get hold of the LD for a while. |
