You might be surprised! Big Grin

I'll compare the two when I have the whole thing, your audio capture might still be very relevant! It's a shame nobody had the French laserdisc. Their BluRay only contains the new 5.1 mix

The spoRv Release seems to use a 2.0 French from a DVD release:

"French AC3 192kbps 2.0 16bit 48kHz Dolby Surround - from DVD"

According to his thread. Maybe it would be usefull to use, if he allows you to use it..
But, I don't know if the French Theatrical had localised introduction images.

I was hoping to find them in the French laserdisc which was not even that expensive on ebay but I don't have any way to play, let alone rip, a LD.
SpoRV has no issue with letting me use the material he collected but I try to avoid using the audio from DVD, I'm not trying to cover as many languages as I can but only to concentrate on those that I can find in high quality or high enough. 192kbps don't quite cut it for me Tongue

Here is a 30 seconds sample from the new German BD, regarding the blue line around 9min40sec.

Looks like somebody did the same job I'm doing. I can still see the faint line here and there. How successifully did they remove it from the helicopter, just moments before this videoclip? Is it gone from the "Chock full o'nuts" sequence? Did they remove the blu splotches that appear here and there? (some were on the "computer map" of New York, at the beginning)

So this is basically the same copy that Shout Factory released that has been tweaked to conceal the previous issues?

Hey guys, not to break the bubble, but aren't the blue lines parts of the lenses Dean Cundey used? John Carpenter is talking about them in the commentary. He says thoses lenses gives flares like results. I remember when Studio Canal got the rights, they began to "fix" those thinking they were negatives mistakes, when in fact they were part of the live shoot.

The big blue line in the helicopter scene seems to be an error, because a lens flare would shift position on a moving camera, when the light source is not moving with the camera, also it is more of a line, not like something coming from a light spot. No curves, like such flares normally show... Also it blocks the image, and not lay over it.

About the blue vertical line during Hauk's arrival I think I've done a better job than them to be honest. But I must say, they were bold and if I had this from the start I would have worked way less to remove whatever was left in. I'm watching it on my TV screen with brightness at full blast so I can easily spot it. In some parts it disappears entirely, in others it blinks back in sight, more or less visibly. I wonder what technique they used, surely something smarter and less time-consuming than mine. I'm still going to use my work for this particular scene.

The orizontal blue line in the diner scene seems entirely gone, but that was the easiest to remove for me too. As for the moiree effect they used a dumb but effective method which I'll steal from them: a freezeframe that they shook sideways so it doesn't appear visibly static. They moiré effect is still there but doesn't move as much now.
