Die Hard - New HD Master on Netflix?

I examined both with Audacity and compared with the LD audio.
On a listening test, there were definite differences, and when looking at the center channel of the 5.1, and comparing with the 2.0, it does look like a fold down job. Usually, when the 5.1 and original Stereo/Mono mixes appear on the same BD, when you switch between them, there are definite changes to the field. Not so with this one, not sure why they bothered, this is a lossless DTS-HD track, a prime opportunity to include the original mix, and they squandered it. Thanks given by: bronan

Sometimes DTS 2.0 tracks are labeled as headphone mixes, but other times they are included without any indication that they are not original mixes, which annoys me, because they are obviously included to give the impression that they are.

That DTS-MA 2.0 track on the UHD was one of the main selling points for me. I won’t rush out to get it now

Heard the extra Blu-ray is also the old one and not from the new 4K master? Not worth it then. Waiting for a rip so that I can remux the real soundtracks myself. I hope it's in sync with the old Blu.

The extra BD is always the old one (So lazy...), and there is a rip, and I confirm the soundtracks are synced perfectly.

Yeah, in respect of the extra BD, the same thing happened with Groundhog Day, even though the new transfer had already had a standard BD release (which is still the one to get if you can't yet play UHD) in Japan. It's lazy and a poor way to treat your customers.

The UHD and Blu-ray discs are in sync with each other.
From top to bottom: UHD HDR converted to SDR via MadVR / Netflix remaster I have no idea how it looks in actual HDR, but I now wish for a regrade of the UHD to the Netflix colors in BT709. The HDR to SDR conversion makes it look dull and bland like the old Blu-ray master, while the Netflix looks like the 4K DCP. Thanks given by: Stamper

Cool thanks Beber, I'll keep the Netflix rip it looks better to me than the convert (I DLed it to check). Will buy the 4K anyway.
