This specific Italian BD release of Dawn of the Dead states "full frame" on disc 3
https://www.amazon.it/Zombi-Dawn-Dead-Bl...01LTHL0IS/ (it's only available on the 4k boxset, not with the normal BD boxset) Is this the one you were referring to MrBrown? Which version did you buy?

I preserve movies as they first appeared in Italy. (2017-02-05, 12:46 AM)Evit Wrote: This specific Italian BD release of Dawn of the Dead states "full frame" on disc 3 Exactly. The linked 4K release. Shouldn't Terminator (1984) — 1.33:1 OM — DVD DE — FSK 18 slightly censored be more like: Terminator (1984) — 1.66:1 OM — DVD DE — FSK 18 slightly censored ? Because it is matted to 1.66:1 ( http://sd.caps-a-holic.com/vergleich.php...eichID=221 ) An Addition: Red Scorpion (1988) — 1.33:1 OM — DVD FR — unrated Version French Audio only Red Scorpion (1988) — 1.33:1 OM — DVD US — r-rated Version Red Scorpion (1988) — 1.33:1 OM — DVD DE — r-rated Version (old German FSK-18 rating) http://sd.caps-a-holic.com/vergleich.php...eichID=805

Red Scorpion was released in the UK as a double feature DVD with Frankenhooker by Synergy entertainment. Both were open matte IIRC

Ehhh, not at hand sorry. I'm not home to check and I've only seen it once. If you're not in a rush I'll return tonight and check it for you.

Looks like The Flintstones (1994) may have an open-matte version, judging from the trailers. Does anyone know if the VHS has it?
It appears that the VHS version is indeed open-matte. I've bought a copy so I can check and maybe get a rip or something. The NTSC and PAL versions might be different, I'm not sure.

I have another to add to the list... the theatrical version of The Hangover. (can't speak to the unrated version)
The DVD has options for both Widescreen and Full-Screen on the same disc. I took a few VLC screenshots of both versions... The Full-Screen version is opened up vertically a bit, but cropped on the sides. Perhaps a 16:9 HDTV cap would have less cropping on the sides and more vertical info? |
