I bought a bunch of DVD's and laserdiscs looking for a full screen Flight Of The Navigator. Never did find one like the above. I did notice my laserdiscs don't have the Disney logo on them though. The DVD below has the PSC Viking text on it.
One notorious newspaper in the UK that had DVD's as giveaways many years ago had 4:3 as the specification for their FOTN giveaway, but it was possibly one of the worst transfers I could find. It certainly wasn't 4:3 either.
Terrible menu screen and AR comparison screen shot below. Audio is simple 2ch AC-3 stereo too.

I heard the Cinema Club UK DVD used a widescreen blow up of a old VHS master (nonetheless, derived from an international print sporting PSO logos and credit references instead of Walt Disney Pictures), and this looks like a film transfer of some sort... possibly the US version if it has Disney credit references. FYI, this wasn't a Disney production at first, rather being produced by Viking Films and set to be released by PSO through Tri-Star. PSO and Viking were having financial issues and scrambled to seek another company to finish the film. Disney stepped in to invest and finish the film in exchange for adding product placements (EPCOT was prominently featured to promote the new attraction) and US rights in perpetuity, though oddly enough they did have UK theatrical rights while video rights were scattered across other UK companies.
Keep in mind that this source may likely have had all the VFX shots zoomed in due to being done/hard masked in the theatrical ratio (as with most films have). I know the VHS had them zoomed in to a degree while UK DVD had those shots cropped again from it's 4:3 VHS master into 16:9.
I'm sure the Japanese laserdisc I have of Flight Of The Navigator has some of the VFX artefacts in the open matte areas. When the ship is diving back down having left the Nasa warehouse for the first time, the shadow and the ship separate in a weird way in the bottom area. You don't see it on the 16:9 version. I'll need to do a full cap of the laserdisc, as it's not readily available on my system right now.

Just to wrap up what I suspected with Flight Of The Navigator. The Japanese laserdisc has more visible than the Italian DVD. Though grade and resolution is poor on that LD version (there is one other Japanese version and two other US versions).
Green is Japanese Laserdisc SF078-1448
Red is Italian DVD
Blue is US BluRay

The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn
France 2 HDTV open matte: in this shot at least, no horizontal loss, only vertical gain.
Blu-ray in scope:
Here's a comment I found on Blu-ray.com: "The HDTV airings of Tintin (2011) are in 1.78:1/16:9 and open-matte! It looks so much better with the extra dimension and scale to the images. Plus, some of the shots have an IMAX-like vertigo that wasn't there in the 2.39:1 version. The composition of the Open-matte 16:9 version looks better in my opinion, than the scope version. Alas! we can never own it on Blu Ray, probably. "

I see that someone is discussing 007 fullscreen versions over at Original Trilogy, and will add some info here that hopefully spoRv will see:
The 1997 MGM DVDs (NOT the later Special Editions or Ultimate ones) of Dr No, From Russia With Love, and Goldfinger are single sided, dual layer discs that also have fullscreen versions in addition to their anamorphic 1.78 widescreen versions. The fullscreen version of Dr No IIRC, had most shots unmatted (right down to the gunbarrel and title sequence) though a couple of driving shots were obviously cropped, possibly due to the rear projection method being done at 1.55:1.
FRWL and Goldfinger on the other hand, probably had a higher % of hard masked shots as the vast majority, with the exception of vehicle shots in the chase sequences and the gunbarrel, were heavily cropped throughout. The flat Roger Moore films were released later on in the Special Edition wave and AFAIK only carried widescreen versions, but 4:3 versions of those (released on VHS, VCD, and early Laserdiscs?) from what I saw were done the same way as FRWL and Goldfinger. All of the 2.35 anamorphic Bond titles are P&S massacre jobs on any 4:3 version you will find, though some of these had recomposed credits and title sequences on certain versions, mainly older video and TV airings.
Starting with the Bronson titles, they were shooting the gunbarrel+opening shot, title sequence, and ending credits in Super35 by framing for scope but protecting for TV and video without serious cropping or P&S.

Yea, I got involved in that thread in regards to CR, QOS and Skyfall. Realised that my CR ITV cap wasn't actually Open Matte but only cropped 16:9 (QOS ITV and Skyfall Sky are definitely OM) and now have a question for Stamper who has the PSP rip, are you sure its OM as based on this clip of the credits on Youtube showing on a PSP console its also cropped 16:9:

I think the Tv logo one was my ITV2HD Cap which as I said wasn't actually OM (cropped 16:9) although the project guy didn't seem to notice either.
Any chance you could post some screenshots from the PSP rip or send me a link so I can take screenshots. It looks like it has been abandoned as a released project so would love to see the original rip if it is OM.
I would be very grateful.
