Does anyone have the French VHS that can confirm this? From what I've watched of the YT video linked the picture isn't very stable, whether that was done deliberately to make it more 'analogue' I don't know. Also the AR changes from shot to shot.
Wouldn't the LD be the same master as well?

I do not know if the french LD has the same master, as the VHS, but I'll might find out if the french LD has french Opening Credits someday next month... I snateched it at eBay, and it should be delivered in some weeks. (But I am not with my LD Player, so it might take some days after I receive the disc.)

From what little I can glean online the French VHS was distributed by Gaumont/Columbia, as was the LD.

Sadly, german LD vom VLC seem to have same master as VCL DVD, without a german Text Localization. I dont think that German ever got the Opening Credits localized.

The French LaserDisc has english Credits, so they did not use the French VHS Master for the LD.

Would make sense as French VHS were SECAM, Pal system wasn't widespread then, so they had to reuse a Pal master for the LD I guess.
