Hopefully it will be worth the long long wait. I'll send you a copy when its ready to go Feallan. Blade Runner will most likely get released first.

Good luck on the encode, i hope all the "glitches" were found. Smile I'm all for the mkv release for all the projects.

IMHO it's up to the project maker whether they use mkv, bd-25/50, m2ts, ts, avi, mp4, just as long as it's not wmv (LOL)

Granted, having a nice menu structure and all is lovely, but... well, there's two reasons that I'm personally against it and prefer m2ts as a release format over anything else, including mkv:

- as technology progresses, using media such as dvd/bd is becoming obsolete. So many of us watch stuff (via HDMI) directly off the computer, or stream stuff (via media center/etc) directly to HDTV or some intermediary like a PS3/4, xbox360/one

- on that note of streaming, it's much easier to stream an m2ts file (as this is easily recognized by ALL devices) than it is an mkv. granted, the overhead is slightly larger, resulting in a larger file and you can't insert titles of streams like you can with an mkv, but IMO it is worth the easy cross-compatibility

- for anyone that wants to author a BD themselves, having everything already in an m2ts file vs mkv, shorten the process and makes it easier there

These are just my thoughts on the matter, NOT trying to tell anyone what to do. When it really comes down to it, as long as the quality of the video and audio is sufficient, I could care less about the delivery medium or container for those streams. The important thing is that it is available. And, there will always be people that will b*tch and complain so do what you are comfortable withWink

Great news! I tend to agree that MKV (or indeed m2ts) keeps folks' options open, and even if you want to include extras it's quite reasonable to just put them in the folder (Negative1's Grindhouse ESB release was perfectly acceptable in this form).

It seems that menu authoring is too often the bottleneck when it comes to BD-quality releases, since tools and expertise are still limited in this area. Considering the limitations of the format that would seem a case of putting the cart before the horse, but other opinions are of course equally valid here.

I think it's a big deal actually. When there is more than one audio track, the description is often necessary. Harmy's Despecialized has like 5 English stereo tracks. Smile

I agree with the MKV release idea. It seems the most accessible of the formats for most people to view even though us "nerds" go full blown or nothing most of the time, LOL.

Thanks guys for the advice. I decided to go with MKV, because as Feallan said its hard to do this otherwise:

Being able to keep track of all the audio is why I was keen building menus in the first place, so its important that people can keep track of which track is which. Regardless the video is fully BD complaint, so if you want to burn a BD out of it, you can.

Also since Jonno posted here, I'd like to point of how much help he was with all these projects. So big thanks to him. Besides menus, the only other thing I regret is not being able to include his awesome Dolby Stereo trailers.

Like I said previous, Blade Runner will come first since I just muxed together the final version last night. Doombot (who is a giant help also) has graciously volunteered his time to beta-test for me. If anyone else wants to download the 21-ish GB file from mega and take a look, drop me a PM.

Going to put together Alien.
