[No Longer Available] Alien Regrade (Fox THX Laserdisc)
#31
Now that i see the difference, dropping the saturation is a good idea. Does 5% more at 80% show much difference?

Thanks spoRv and Doombot. Here is the first pic at 80%:

And 100% and 75%:

And for reference, here is the LD at 100%:

more reference, here is what the BD originally looked like so you can see the difference:

You can see even with the saturation reduced in the regrade, its still warmer then the BD's original colors.

For some reason my laptop isn't showing much difference between 100 & 80% but 75% definetely looks too pale. I'd guess 80% would probably be the best once I'm watching it on a TV

80% looks absolutely spot on. I can't imagine it getting any better.

Is the blu-ray zoomed in? There's seems to be more info on top on the LD

Yep that's right, the BD is less information, although I think the LD is a bit over-matted (somewhere around 2.50:1).

One more comparison. I chose these pics since there are plenty of fleshtones to look at and the difference is more pronounce then in the Kane scenes. Its darker since the LD is darker in these scenes but overall the LD is about the same level of darkness. Sometimes darker, sometimes lighter.

BD regraded to LD 100%/BD regraded to LD 80%/BD

Maybe I will have to do a scene by scene test to see what works best.
