I realised the original Image DVD of Terminator, the one in the snapcase, and with a 2.1 mix was re-released with a 1.0 mix.
Would anyone be in possession of that copy in 1.0? I would gladly add it to the collection or resyncs.
It's probably different from the MGM & TF1 and maybe from the 2.1.

Damn.. the Jewel Case Edition was at ebay last week, and it wasn't that expensive.
But with already owning the snapper case release, I thought it is the same disc.

Worry not, it's always popping on ebay. However some people say the 1.0 is also in the snapper case.

I think it's probably just one channel of the 2.1 but we never know.

The 1.0 is printed on the backside of the snapper, but it is 2.1 on DVD.
While the Jewel Case Version has only "mono" on the backside, not the channel picture.

As seen the backside has different structure. and also Jewel case just states "mono", while the snapper Shows "mono 1.0".


Are you sure the screensots are from an Image release DVD, and not the MGM?

Yes someone posted them on blu-ray forum. I need to check the MGM just to make sure the guy wasn't confused.
In addition, there were apparently bootlegs of that disc, probably the jewel is a boot? I saw some in regular cases.

I would assume that bootleggers do not create a new backside. I would more assume the regular case versions are the bootlegs. Also you see that the disc itself is designed and "printed" like the snapper case disc.
I think normal amaray cases would be more easy to be used than this kind of strange and unusual packaging.

I have two copies of the Image disc. One in the snapper case, one in a standard DVD case. If needed I’ll check these for you guys if needed. Just let me know.

I can’t remember where but I seem to remember having a discussion somewhere where it may have been debunked that there was a version of the Image disc with a 2.1 track and that it was fab made for a preservation project. I could be wrong about that though.

Last week the Japanese DVDs arrived.
One is indeed a newer release with a 5.1 track that seems to be a butch job from old and new audio. Like the 5.1 audio from the Japanese Full Dub BD.
The other is indeed one of the first Japanese Terminator 1 DVD releases. It is mastered from an Image entertainment disc, with Hemdale Logo intro.
I will check, if the audio is 1.0 on that disc.

I ordered on Amazon.co.jp marketplace. I just took one the cheap offers, the cheapest that shipped to Germany:

Seems as if the Terminator Bootleg with image entertainment art isn't a bootleg of the image entertainment disc, but of the later MGM disc:

The old japanese DVD to have the same audio stream as the US Image Disc. 2.1 channeld 192 kbps. Nothing new.
